Campsite of the Year: ANWB election 2019

Campsite of the Year: ANWB election 2019

No fewer than 35.000 votes were cast for the 'Campsite of the Year' election. For the first time in the history of the ANWB election, there was no professional jury involved this year: the public determined the 2019 winners this year.

Dutch campers chose their favorite campsite in three categories: the nicest family campsite, the best rental accommodation and the most beautiful green campsite. All applications were assessed on nine aspects. Due to the weighting of those criteria, the campsite with the most votes did not automatically win, but rather the campsite that scores high on a certain component.

For the best family campsite, the price-quality ratio, swimming facilities and sanitary facilities played an extra important role. For the best rental accommodation, extra attention was paid to the price-quality ratio, the location of the holiday accommodation on the campsite and its cleaning. And for the most beautiful green campsite, the terrain and environmental awareness/sustainability played an extra important role. This weighting took place on the basis of what the voters themselves indicated they considered important.

What is special about the election is that two campsites won prizes per category: one in the Netherlands and a campsite abroad. The reason for this is that the quality of Dutch campsites is very high, which means that foreign holiday parks may be missing out in the ANWB election. Hence the choice for two campsites per category.
