How to prevent damage to your camper
A camper is a possession to dream of. Hours of driving with the Mediterranean Sea on your right, through villages that tourists have not yet discovered and benefiting from the hospitality that many Dutch people can still learn from. Are you already dreaming away? Or have you already grabbed the keys to your camper? In any case, it is a nice prospect to go on the road again with the camper soon. However, your trip can be ruined considerably by damage. Now, there is nothing you can do about it if someone crashes into your camper. But many problems can be prevented. You will discover how that works in this article.
Have the camper checked regularly
When you have the route in mind and have packed the camper with two months' worth of stuff, nothing stands in the way of your happiness. Except a damaged camper. An unpleasant surprise, because the camper was still working fine last month and there was no sign of damage. The only problem is that you can't always notice damage. That's why it's wise to have it checked regularly for camper damage. This way, the minor inconveniences are tackled before they become really difficult. This allows you to set off on your next adventure without any worries.
Reversing camera and/or parking sensors
Besides the fact that someone can drive into your camper, you are also there yourself. Of course you do everything you can to prevent damage, but there can always be a pole that you do not see. Parking and reversing in particular are challenges. You can prevent problems by having a reversing camera and/or parking sensors installed. Then you have a few extra eyes that can warn you. Do you think this is too much of an investment? Then play it safe and let your partner watch you when parking and reversing.
A protective coating
Despite the fact that the aforementioned Mediterranean Sea is accompanied by the sun in your head, the weather cannot be planned. You can encounter all sorts of things along the way, such as rain showers, storms or extreme heat. Fortunately, a good camper can withstand a knock, but extra protection never hurts. A coating is one of the ways to arm your camper against external influences. Your camper gets an extra layer, which means that minor damage occurs less quickly.
Take him out of the shed regularly
Of course, it is an option to park the camper in front of the door for a whole year. Admittedly, it is not a good option. Even the best coating does not help against the whims of the Dutch winter weather. Task 1 is therefore to put the camper in a storage facility. And when it is there, it is important to take the camper out regularly. It is not good for the engine to stand still for a year. The risk that the engine does not feel like it on the day you want to leave is then quite high.
