Rent a camper? The Dutch are quick to catch up
You can easily rent a camper for a nice camper holiday. Many Dutch people who do this do so well in advance. An Early Booking study by Goboony shows that more than half of Dutch camper users book their camper in the early booking period (December, January or February). That makes us the earliest bookers in Europe.
The research shows that 57% of Dutch camper travelers already book a camper for the summer period in December, January or February. This means that the Dutch are a lot faster in arranging their camper holiday than residents of other European countries. Among Belgians, who are in second place in the list of countries where early booking is made, 28% can call themselves an 'early booker'. British (9%) and Italians (4%) are a lot less into planning ahead and they prefer to arrange their holidays themselves in the summer period.
Young people and people over 65 are 'late bookers'
Only 4% of young people between the ages of 18 and 25 arrange a camper in December, January or February. A small proportion (7%) of people aged 65 and over also plan their summer holiday in those months. Both groups of bookers are usually more flexible in planning a holiday. Holidaymakers between the ages of 41 and 55 often have a full-time job and a family, which means they are forced to plan their holiday further in advance. The result is that 41% of them arrange a camper in the early booking months.
Volkswagen van popular, especially among young people
Holidaymakers who want to rent a camper most often search for the brand 'Volkswagen'. It is striking that this group mainly consists of 'young' camper enthusiasts in the age category of 18 to 35 years. They have not experienced the hippie era, but they would like to experience the nostalgia by going out with such a camper.
