Camping Fiederels: a mecca for MTB riders
At Camping Fiederels in the polder village of Bant, everyone with any type of camping equipment is most welcome. But if mountain biking has stolen your heart, the campsite is a true mecca for both beginners and pros. In addition to the excellent camping pitches, there is also a bike park where young and old can have a great time.
Camping Fiederels is an initiative of Bas and Els. Together with their three children, they live on a farm, which is considered one of the most beautiful spots in the Noordoostpolder. Els grew up here at a time when it was still a farm. Since 2022, however, this has made way for a campsite with excellent sanitary facilities, a bike café, and a B&B.
The campsite

There are 25 pitches available at Camping Fiederels, so it's nice and small-scale. With a ring road that makes all pitches easily accessible, even for larger Motorhomes. The camping pitches have a paved section where the car, Caravan or Motorhome can be parked. In addition, each pitch has a piece of grass. There is a clean toilet building, with underfloor heating because the campsite is open all year round. 10 Amperes of electricity are available for each pitch and there are a number of water taps distributed across the site.
For Motorhomes, all necessary facilities are available, such as a disposal point for grey water or for the chemical toilet. The excellent WiFi is also included in the very reasonable overnight price. The bike café makes it cozy. Of course, you are also very welcome here without a cycling helmet. You can eat or drink something small. If you want breakfast, to bake pizzas or eat something larger, just consult Els. Hospitality is paramount and a lot is possible.
The surroundings
From sea to land. The history of the Noordoostpolder is rich in beautiful stories. Not only because of the technical feats used for the land reclamation, but also because of the people who built this new land after a grueling Second World War. But that was a long time ago. The polder is no longer the barren plain of yesteryear. In more than 80 years, nature has evolved into something you also find in the Veluwe.
In the vicinity of Camping Fiederels, there are therefore plenty of opportunities to plan a beautiful cycling or walking route.. In collaboration with Fietsnetwerk.nl, three routes have been mapped out from the campsite, with an app showing the route and providing interesting facts about the immediate surroundings. One route runs via the Kuinderbos to the area of the Weerribben nature reserve, one route runs to the former island of Schokland, and the third route passes the water sports town of Lemmer and goes to the special dike section called Rotterdamse Hoek.
Bike park

Next to the campsite lies the adventurous 3km long mountain bike park, decorated with shrubs, fruit trees, and flowers. It is freely accessible for young and old. For those who do not yet have a mountain bike, they can be rented. The bike park is there to let children experience the joy of exercise. And there is also enough challenge for adults. Admission is free.
With the construction of Camping Fiederels, hills were raised right next to it for the bike park. Combined with a flowy track through the forest and all sorts of technical trail features, you will truly master your mountain bike here. Wallrides, wooden bridges, north shores, rock gardens, and drops, it's all there.
The bike park is also the home base of the club Masters of Trails. An association of about 40 enthusiastic MTB riders. The youngest is seven and the oldest is approaching sixty. The club has a volunteer team that organizes weekly training sessions, bike tours, events, and even an annual camp.
Due to the felling of diseased ash trees, the bike park was destroyed in early 2024. But by rolling up their sleeves to start again, the route is now more fun than ever. There is more relief and the turns are smooth. The route is passable in all weather types because it is largely paved with shells. But it is never finished. Bas enjoys building something new all the time.
Mountain biking is a risky sport, so a helmet is mandatory. Most important advice: Do not do things you don't dare to do. Cycling in this park is at your own risk.
B&B
If you do not have a camping vehicle, there are accommodations for rent at Camping Fiederels. Not construction site-like chalets, but an authentic Hayloft that has been converted into a atmospheric apartment with two bedrooms. Suitable for groups of up to 6 people. Or Cottage de Bosrand, detached with its own facilities such as a toilet, shower, and a kitchen. Small but nice. And then there is Cottage Fiederels. In Els's youth, it was part of the company. Now it has been converted into a cozy cottage. There is one bedroom with a double bed, and a single bed can be added for a third guest. Two gypsy caravans are being worked on. A cheerful pink one and a green one. They can already be booked via the website, and will be available from April.
