CampLion: the roof tent for adventurers

Anyone driving along campsites, nature reserves, and parking lots on the edge of European mountain roads this summer will see them more and more often: cars with a tent on the roof. Where the rooftop tent once belonged mainly to expedition vehicles and seasoned off-road travelers, the camping item is now shifting towards the ordinary holidaymaker. Dutch company CampLion is explicitly responding to this development with a range that promises adventure, but above all convenience.

With a CampLion, you can stop where it's beautiful, extend the ladder, and sleep above the ground within minutes. The brand presents softshell and hardshell models, including the Nomad, Nomad Pro, Adventure, and Elevate. With these, CampLion targets not only the classic outdoor enthusiast but also families, couples, and road trippers who want to convert their car into a compact travel base.

The appeal lies in the speed. According to CampLion, a hardshell rooftop tent can be set up in about two minutes on average; a softshell model usually takes a few minutes longer. This difference is important for travelers who frequently change locations on the go. Instead of hammering in pegs and searching for tent poles, simply opening the structure, placing the ladder, and laying out sleeping gear is sufficient.

The CampLion Nomad softshell rooftop tent shows how practical the formula is. The model weighs 53 kilos, offers space for two to three people, and has a length of over three meters when unfolded. The tent is made of polyester-cotton, has a lightweight aluminum frame, and comes with a two-meter ladder, a five-centimeter mattress, and shoe bags, among other things. With a water resistance of 3000 millimeters, the tent is designed to withstand heavy downpours.

A hardshell is faster and better protected while driving, while a softshell is often more spacious and priced lighter. CampLion tries to make this choice clear by visualizing the differences between models and accessories, such as winter insulation and anti-condensation mats.

CampLion is thus selling not just a tent, but a way of traveling. High above the ground, the car suddenly becomes more than just transport. It becomes a small mobile Motorhome, ready for the next outdoor adventure.
