Wally-Van: compact Motorhome where you never have to make up your bed again

A Motorhome that is compact enough to drive and park daily, but in which you don't have to build up your bed every evening at your destination. That is the principle behind Wally-Van, a Dutch Motorhome concept with an extendable pop-out that transforms a compact van into a spacious Motorhome with a fixed bed.

Where many compact Motorhomes have to be converted during the day to be able to sleep in the evening, Wally-Van opts for a different solution. On the road, the van remains compact and maneuverable. At the destination, the pop-out is extended with one simple movement, creating space for a real fixed bed, a spacious seating area, and extra living space.

Never convert your Motorhome again

The main difference lies in the way Wally-Van utilizes the limited space of a compact van. The bed remains permanently available, while at the same time the seating area and the kitchen can be used. Users therefore do not have to move cushions and bedding every evening before they can sleep.

In addition to the fixed bed, the Wally-Van has a spacious seating area, a kitchen that can be used both indoors and outdoors, plenty of storage space, four full seats, and a fixed place for a portable toilet.

“We wanted to get rid of the idea that in a compact Motorhome you have to choose between sleeping, sitting, and living every day. With Wally-Van, the bed stays made and you simultaneously have space left to sit, cook, and live.”

Wouter Pekela, founder Wally-Van

Compact on the road, grand at the destination

The Wally-Van is developed for people who want a Motorhome but don't want to drive a large Motorhome. The compact size makes the van suitable for daily use, while the pop-out creates extra space at the destination.

Wally-Van thus targets a growing group of people who want to use their Motorhome not only for long holidays but also for weekend trips, day trips, and other moments when a regular car does not offer the same freedom.

The concept is available for, among others, the Volkswagen Transporter T6 and T7 and the Ford Transit Custom. The different versions are available with a fixed transverse or single bed, depending on the chosen model.

One of the most striking features of the concept is the fixed bed. The Wally-Van Classic has a fixed transverse bed measuring 1.40 by 2.06 meters. The Wally-Van AIR Long features a fixed single bed measuring 1.45 by 2.06 meters. The short AIR version has a fixed single bed measuring 1.40 by 2.00 meters.

The extendable system creates extra space when the Motorhome is at its destination, without the need for a large vehicle. The principle is simple: compact on the road, grand at the destination.

From Motorhome concept to European scalable system

Wally-Van does not only focus on private customers. The company develops and supplies the Motorhome concept and collaborates with Motorhome builders who can integrate the system into their own Motorhomes. In addition, the concept remains available for self-builders.

According to Pekela, this is also the company's next growth phase. By collaborating with Motorhome builders, the Wally-Van concept can become available on a larger scale for customers in the Netherlands and eventually abroad.

“The pop-out is the core of the concept for us. With it, we have found a way to keep a compact van compact on the road, but create much more living space at the destination.”
