Leavv Camper Rental: sustainability trumps with the e-Fixxter
Sustainability is hot, and Leavv Camper Rental was one of the first to realize this. With a fleet of electric Fixxter campers, nothing stands in the way of modern campers planning an environmentally conscious holiday. The new e-Peugeot has proven itself to be a fully-fledged camping vehicle. Even for a longer trip through Europe, range and charging time pose no obstacle.
Leavv Camper Rental is an initiative by Robbert Goethem, who offers 100% electric campers for rent, allowing you to experience a carefree and sustainable journey. This activity has been taking place since 2021, based on the idea of bringing camper rental, as it always was, into the present day. Innovation naturally takes precedence in this. With the e-Fixxter, Leavv Camper Rental was a pioneer in deploying this electric camper for rental. In addition, Leavv also handles the sale of the Peugeot e-Fixxter, and that is going surprisingly well. In the relatively short time that Leavv has been involved in this, the company is responsible for about 60 e-Fixxters on the road with broadly grinning owners behind the wheel. Because a future-proof camper that drives you to your destination without problems naturally makes you very happy.

Peugeot e-Fixxter
The e-Fixxter was created in the Netherlands based on the electric Peugeot Expert. The pop-top roof, the interior, and the technical installation are therefore of Dutch origin. The bodywork is transformed into a camper by VDL in Born. The interior was also developed by the Frisian company Camperfix. This interior of the Fixxter XXL consists of a cabinet, a compact pantry with two induction hobs, a pull-out table, an RDW-approved sofa bed, and plenty of storage options. The XXL version of the e-Fixxter, with a longer wheelbase, offers the possibility of using more cabinet space, a larger kitchen, and a larger refrigerator than the standard version allows.

Sleeping
The sofa bed is movable, but what's missing are the usual rails on the floor. This is an advantage both in appearance and in use. A flat floor makes the interior much cozier, and cleaning is hassle-free without a gutter where dirt can accumulate. The patented system of the sofa bed transforms into a bed with a width of 120 cm. With an extension mattress in the cabinet and kitchen, the final width of the sleeping area is a generous 135 cm. For camper vans in this class, a meager 112.5 cm is common. The length of the bed is 200 cm and can be further extended to 210 cm. Ideal for us Dutch people, who are known as the tallest people in the world. It's also very nice that the bed is completely flat. No pre-formed lumbar supports that poke you in the back when lying stretched out. Operating the sofa does require some experience. It also takes away some luggage space, but in return, you get a flat floor without rails.
A second double bed can also be made up in the pop-top roof. However, without children or guests, you would probably use this more as an attic for storage or, when folded up, for comfortable standing height. Another summery feature is the possibility to zip away the canvas, creating your own roof terrace.

100% electric is the starting point of the Leavv e-Fixxter, so cooking or heating is done via the battery or shore power. A large area of solar panels is on the pop-top roof, and there is an extra-large 200 Ah household battery on board. The optional porta-potti has found a place in a specially designed cabinet. This means that camping off-grid for three days without further facilities is no problem at all.
Range
The range is, of course, important for any electric car. With the interior, occupants, and some luggage, this averages 250 km. In winter, this can be a bit less, but in summer, it can be more. Leavv's renters regularly return with a distance of 300 km to the next charging stop. A substantial 75 kW battery pack is responsible for this. Under the floor, this provides a low center of gravity and corresponding good road holding.
Charging the batteries can be done via a regular socket, for example at a campsite, but that takes quite a long time. Charging at a public fast-charging point is a different story. There are now about 300,000 of these in Europe, and here, an e-fuel stop only takes half an hour. Then the batteries are 80% full again, and you can drive another 250 km to the next charging point. For an overworked courier, that's not so nice, but it fits perfectly with the function of a camper. Taking a half-hour break every 250 km is not a punishment but the advice of VeiligVerkeerNederland (Dutch Road Safety Association) to get home safely without accidents. It provides peace and slows things down, which, by the way, fits perfectly with the nature of a motorhome. Leavv makes this point even better with the option of providing three charging cards with the car, allowing you to use almost all charging stations in Europe.

Four-person camper
Driving this e-bus also calms you down during the journey. Dominating the dashboard is the econometer, which makes you prefer not to go too fast because then too many kilometers will be deducted from your range. The temperature also plays a role. In winter, at 0 degrees, about 10% of the capacity is lost. But apart from the range, which is three times greater for a diesel, there are no differences in use and driving behavior. The e-Fixxter behaves approximately the same as an Expert with a 1.5 HDI that delivers 100HP. It's not a traffic light sprinter either; like all campers, it's a delivery van with approximately maximum load. You don't rush with it, but keeping up with traffic is never a problem. The top speed is above 130 km. Of course, the silence is striking. A modern diesel doesn't make much noise, but you do hear them. That drone is absent in the e-Fixxter; what remains is the sound of the tires on the asphalt and perhaps some wind noise.
The equipment provided by Leavv Camper Rental is complete for four people. In addition, you can book a few handy extras, such as the aforementioned charging cards, a Porta Potti, or a barbecue. A canopy and outdoor furniture are standard, and a rug for under the canopy has also been considered.

The e-Fixxter is an interesting offer for anyone who wants to continue camping when diesel becomes unaffordable and scarce. The latter is not yet the case, of course, but it will be once fossil cars are banned. Apart from the range, the e-Fixxter does not differ in appearance and use from the same base equipped with an internal combustion engine. It is clear, however, that this base was not designed from the ground up for an electric drive. Where previously the diesel was under a cover, the systems for the new propulsion are now located. This all fits perfectly, but it also means that space is used less efficiently. In the latest version of the e-Fixxter, this has been adjusted, so the renter or owner of this camper van does have a frunk to store, for example, the charging cables. In other respects, the Fixxter will continue to evolve in the coming years to keep pace with the demands of the time yet to come.
Rent
Leavv Camper Rental, in addition to the ideology of greening camper rentals with a sustainable camping vehicle, has another good reason to rent out electric campers. Maintenance costs are low, depreciation is minimal, and a bad driver, for example, cannot overload a cold diesel or abuse a gearbox. With few moving parts, little can break, which has already been proven with the current e-Fixxter on the road. But although electric driving is not new at all, its application as a camper is. The Fixxter is the first series-produced electric camper. To experience for yourself how such a camping vehicle behaves, renting is a solution. From €110 per day, you will find out, with a good chance that your first or next own camper will be allowed into the environmental zone emission-free. Additional advantage: upon purchase after renting, you will receive the rental sum as a discount on the purchase price.
