Kulba Woody: cuddly bed on wheels

Kulba Woody: cuddly bed on wheels

'Aaaah!': that's the cry you'll hear most often when you're out and about with a Kulba Woody. The mini-caravan has a high puppy factor and attracts attention at every campsite. The Kulba is handmade from high-quality materials, with side walls of Baltic birch wood.

The Kulba factory is located in Lithuania and has been producing mini-caravans since 2011. Due to its low weight, the caravan is suitable for almost all passenger cars: when loaded, they weigh no more than 750 kilos. That the caravan has been assembled with great love by craftsmen can be seen in striking details. Two versions of the Kulba are available: the Woody and the Rebel with a tough off-road look. We are looking at the original model: the Woody with its typical wooden sides.

Exterior

What immediately stands out about the Kulba is its typical 'teardrop' shape, inspired by the small caravans that became popular in the USA around 1930. The insulated side walls are fitted on both sides with Baltic birch plywood that has been treated on the outside with a UV-resistant epoxy coating that makes the wood waterproof. For an additional charge, you can have the walls fitted with anodized aluminum plating.

The Woody has an unbraked galvanized chassis with shock absorbers and stands on 13-inch wheels. As with 'normal' caravans, the Kulba is equipped with corner steadies on all four corners.

Living, sleeping

The birch plywood makes the Kulba look spacious inside. In the ceiling, a skylight provides fresh air and daylight. Both side doors have a window that you can slide open – both windows and the skylight are equipped with blackout and mosquito netting.

The entire interior is used for the double bed, almost two meters by 140 centimeters, which you can also use as a sofa – thanks to the three-part mattress. Above the foot end, a wall unit is placed against the wall with a storage cabinet for clothes on both the left and right. Between both storage cabinets, we see an open space for other items.

Camping furniture can be placed on the bed while traveling. The factory can also fulfill all kinds of personal wishes for the interior; you can even have your own Kulba completely custom-made.

Installations

We can be brief about installations: the basic model essentially only has LED lighting and a few power outlets. You can expand the kitchen with a gas stove, a 10-liter water tank with a sink, and if desired, you can even have the Kulba equipped with heating, a roof rack, a bicycle rack, a front or rear tent, etc. The Dutch importer – Vouwwagencentrum Noordbergum – will be happy to tell you more about it.
