Choose a winter sports holiday with a camper

Enjoy the white slopes, challenging hikes in the area and the beautiful landscape that Austria, Switzerland and, for example, Italy offer you in the winter months. For a winter sports holiday, you don't have to book an apartment or hotel. Choose a holiday with a camper, even in early spring. In the various winter sports areas, you will find numerous campsites that are also open in the winter months and offer sufficient space for your camper. Many of these campsites have facilities to dry your clothes after skiing or snowboarding. In some cases, a restaurant and, for example, a swimming pool can be found for the necessary relaxation.

An interesting area is Zugspitz Arena, which is located precisely on the border of Germany and Austria. You can drive there in about 800 kilometers, calculated from Utrecht. This makes this area interesting even for a shorter holiday with a camper. Other areas regularly visited by Dutch holidaymakers are Saalbach Hinterglemm and Ötztal Arena. These areas are located at 1,000 and 900 kilometers driving distance from Utrecht, respectively.

Good preparation for your winter sports holiday

Good preparation is important for a winter sports holiday with a camper. Make sure not only your ski helmet, your clothes and for example, high-quality ski sunglasses are packed for the family. Also think about changing your summer tires for winter tires, getting snow chains, using grip mats and packing jumper cables. You want to prevent being stranded with a dead battery at the campsite or by the side of the road.

To prevent oxidation, it can be smart to treat cables and cable couplings with some WD40 in the Netherlands. Instead of WD40, you can also use acid-free petroleum jelly. Lubricate not only the cables, but also, for example, the door rubbers. There are special sticks for this.

Essential household items

Not only the aforementioned items will help you enjoy a comfortable winter sports holiday. This also applies to household items such as sufficient blankets and a heating mat for your feet, insulation material to cover the driver's cabin and, for example, an insulation screen that you can hang on the inside in front of the rear doors. A small fan heater, a snow shovel and, for example, a small ladder also come in handy. The ladder helps you remove snow from the roof of your camper. Are you afraid of locks freezing? A hairdryer is the solution.
