Traveling with a camper: this is what you take with you

A trip with a camper is an excellent way to explore the surroundings. Whether you are traveling in the Netherlands or going abroad, both times it is an adventure. A weekend getaway, a long road trip or a family weekend, it is important to bring the right things. In this blog we tell you what to bring when you go on a trip with a camper. This way you will experience a comfortable and above all carefree journey.

Documentation and paperwork

Before you leave, make sure you have all the necessary documents with you. Think of your driver's license, identity card or passport, insurance papers of the Motorhome and any visas or travel permits, depending on your destination. This also includes the documents of the camper. Keep this in a good place like your leather school bag or the backpack that you have with you for traveling.

Route planning

GPS systems are very useful and nowadays nothing else is used. Nevertheless, it is wise to bring a paper map. If you don't have GPS reception, you always have a map.

Emergency tools and first aid

A set of basic tools is essential for any camping trip. Make sure you have all the necessities to perform small repairs. A first aid kit with bandages, medicines and plasters is also good to bring.

Fire extinguisher and smoke detector

Safety is paramount during your trip. Make sure you have a well-functioning fire extinguisher and smoke detector in the camper. Regularly check if they are still in good condition.

Sleeping and bedding

A good night's sleep is very nice. Therefore, bring enough sleeping bags, pillows and bedding. This of course depends on the number of people traveling with you. Also bring extra blankets for colder nights.

Clothing and personal belongings

Make a list of clothes and personal belongings you want to bring. Bring clothes for different weather conditions and occasions. Smart clothes for a night out and relaxed clothes for a quiet evening in the camper.

Kitchen utensils and supplies

If you plan to cook in the camper yourself, make sure you bring all the necessary kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery. Also remember to bring enough food and drinking water, especially if you are going to remote areas where there are no shops nearby.

Camping equipment

If you plan to stay at campsites, make sure you have the right equipment, such as a camping table, chairs, a gas barbecue and possibly an awning or sunshade to provide shade. This will make your stay at campsites much more comfortable. Also bring enough lighting such as flashlights, headlamps and lanterns. If the power goes out or in the middle of the night, a light is very handy.

Travel insurance

Consider taking out travel insurance specifically for campervan trips. This can cover you in case of accidents, medical emergencies, or damage to the campervan.

Entertainment

Bring books, board games, an instrument, or other forms of entertainment to keep yourself occupied. During quiet moments, it's wonderful to have something to do for yourself. Bring items that can entertain you.
