The company was founded by Erwin Hymer in 1957. The headquarters of the Hymer Group cq Hymer AG is located in Bad Waldsee, Germany. In 2007, a street in Wertheim, Germany, was even named after Erwin Hymer at the opening of the world's first camper outlet.
Hymer was the first brand to introduce the 'Van'. A Semi-Integrated with the dimensions of a bus camper. Later, the Exsis was introduced, an integral camper that did not yet exist. Hymer was also the first with a tuned version: the TuningVan based on a Van Ti255. The Mercedes-Benz tuner Brabus was responsible for this, as this Hymer was equipped with a Mercedes Benz chassis.
Today, Hymer offers a wide range that is continuously developed each season to meet the demands of modern times. Mostly based on the Ducato III with the new JTD engines. But also based on a Mercedes Sprinter chassis with a CDI engine.
