Chassis and Engine

The Hymer S 820 is based on the Mercedes Benz Sprinter 616 Chassis and is equipped with the powerful 5-cylinder 2.7 156 HP Euro 3 diesel engine with an automatic transmission | Air Handbrake | The Hymer does not have an engine brake but a Retarder, which is a wear-free auxiliary braking system in heavy vehicles that slows down the drivetrain without using the main brake. It converts kinetic energy into heat via oil or magnetism, saving the brakes and increasing safety on descents. It is effective at high speeds but cannot bring a vehicle to a complete stop. Differential lock, which limits the speed difference between the left and right wheels. The Hymer also has an HJS soot filter, which grants the benefits of EURO 4 in Germany and France. The Eberspächer Hydronic D5WZ is a diesel-fired water heater (coolant heater) of 12 volts with a power output of 5000 Watts. The unit helps the coolant and the engine of a vehicle to reach operating temperature quickly when it is cold outside, and serves as additional heating for the cabin.
