Camping in Croatia: Plitvice Lakes National Park

Camping in Croatia: Plitvice Lakes National Park

When you say Croatia, you immediately think of the sunny beaches of the Adriatic coast. But Croatia has more surprises, such as the beautiful interior, with the world wonder of Plitvice Lakes National Park, with 16 lakes and more than 90 waterfalls.

On the eastern side of Italy, across the Adriatic Sea, the surf rustles on the pebble beaches of Croatia, a country that is increasingly conquering Dutch hearts. Because of its beautiful 1,700-kilometer coastline, its gastronomic surprises, and its enchanting interior, with tranquil villages where you can still taste authentic dishes and local wine for a pittance. Here you will find vast forests, Roman ruins, and fantastic views that naturally lead your gaze over the mountains.

A fairy tale!

The national park consists of 16 lakes connected by ninety waterfalls that give the area a fairytale-like appearance. The nature reserve has two entrances with large parking lots and the best time to visit the park is in the spring or autumn. And if you still want to go in July or August, it is best to go before 10 am or after 5 pm; then you are just before or just after the crowds. In the park you can choose your own route, but there are also signposted routes of various distances, including a boat trip on Lake Kozjak. Those who want to see the entire park will travel more than 18 kilometers.
