In a recent episode of I Depart we meet the Wagemans family. Loes and Steven, together with twins Pip and Riff, go on a whim to Spain in their pimped-out Motorhome and look for their dream house. And they have found it.

The Wagemans family leads a generally normal life: Steven is a handy handyman and Loes has a normal job. Grown up and living in Roermond. The family is done with gloomy the Netherlands and decides to take matters into their own hands and pursue their dream: starting a B&B in Spain.

Steven is handy, very handy. And without batting an eye, he turns an old Mercedes Motorhome into a luxurious Motorhome for his family. With it, they go on a journey to follow their dream. Steven's motto is simple and somewhat inspiring: “The best things in your life happen when you don't have a plan. Having a strict plan is the risk of disappointment,” says Steven. How does Loes feel about it? She finds this very stressful! “I have the brains and he has the golden hands. So we really have to do it together.”

With that mindset, he sells his home in Roermond, buys an old Motorhome, converts it and drives it with his family to the Spanish coast. On the way, with 4 breakdowns, they end up near Valencia where they buy an old house and have to turn everything around with a budget of €40,000. The house is such a mess that even Steven starts seeing obstacles. Everything has to be redone, the rooms, pipes, electricity and also the swimming pool. Setbacks pile up, but Steven's good mood and his handiness overcome every hindrance. After months of work, they have simply achieved what they initially only dared to dream of: a beautiful villa in Spain with 2 apartments that they can rent out.

The best part of all this is revealed at the end of the episode: Steven laughingly says he has €20,000 left from his budget!

He himself concludes the following: ‘If we had to change anything about the way we did it now, we can’t think of anything… You have to make mistakes to learn from them. And that has brought us where we are now. Exactly where we want to be!’

Chasing a dream requires courage and an iron will. But it often starts with the purchase of a beautiful Motorhome. Our platform it is full of it, when will you take your first step?
