Making a camper dream come true: what are you waiting for?

Making a camper dream come true: what are you waiting for? Some will recognize it: you have had a dream for years that you have been postponing. This will not be news to many of us readers. The fact that the world is getting smaller and the news about daily dangers dominates the media reminds you of your secret ambition: transform a camper into a permanent residential palace and travel the world.

In this article we give an inspirational example of people who decided that things had to change course and made their dream come true. Are you ready for it? (After this article, there is a very good chance that you will have one buy a camper on our platform and is looking for a dream home in Spain – so watch out)

In a recent episode of I leave we meet the Wagemans family. Loes and Steven, together with twins Pip and Riff, go to Spain in their pimped-up camper on spec and look for their dream house. And they found it.

The Wagemans family lives a generally normal existence: Steven is a handy handyman and Loes has a normal job. Grew up and lives in Roermond. Fed up with the gloomy Netherlands, the family decides to take matters into their own hands and pursue their dream: starting a BnB in Spain.

Steven is handy, very handy. And without blinking, he turns an old Mercedes camper into a luxury residential camper for his family. With this they go on a journey to follow their dream. Steven's motto is simple and somehow inspiring: “The most beautiful things in your life happen when you don't have a plan. Having a strict plan runs the risk of disappointment,” says Steven. How does Loes feel about it? She finds this particularly stressful! “I have the brains and he has the golden hands. So we really have to do it together.”

With that attitude, he sells his house in Roermond, buys an old camper, renovates it and drives it with his family to the Spanish coast. Along the way, with four bad lucks, they end up near Valencia where they buy an old house and have to turn everything around with a budget of €4. The house is such a mess that even Steven starts to see obstacles in the road. Everything needs to be redone, the rooms, pipes, electricity and also the swimming pool. The setbacks pile up, but Steven's good mood and his dexterity defy every obstacle. After months of work, they have simply achieved what they only dared to dream: a beautiful villa in Spain with 40.000 apartments that they can sublet.

The best part of all this is revealed at the end of the episode: Steven laughingly tells us that he still has €20.000 left in his budget!

He himself concludes the following: 'If we had to change anything in the way we have done it now, we can't name anything... You have to make mistakes to learn from them. And that has brought us where we are now. Exactly where we want to be!'

Chasing a dream takes courage and an iron will. But it often starts with the purchase of a nice camper. Us platform is full of it, when will you take your first step?
