HPC Hydraulics: levelers and auxiliary air systems

The Twente-based HPC Hydraulics is experiencing the increasing popularity of campers up close. The company is growing by double digits every year and there seems to be a long way to go. However, the sale of so many campers is not the only reason for this. HPC is the developer of level systems and auxiliary air suspension that have unparalleled specifications.

More and more camper owners and camper builders are discovering the benefits of a lightweight system that excels in user-friendliness.

HPC Hydraulics is an initiative of Peter Olde Daalhuis. Started in 2004 with the sale of an American brand in level systems for campers. However, there was room for improvement, after which HPC launched a similar product on the market in 2009, but developed it in-house with all the experience gained in the first years incorporated. Lightweight leveling feet, over-dimensioned and corrosion-free.

Through an extensive dealer network with an importer in all European countries, further developments, new products such as auxiliary air suspension, activities towards body builders and direct deliveries to camper manufacturers followed each other in rapid succession. Even today, the company is not sitting still with a scoop that will be introduced at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf this year.

Level system for caravans

Lightweight, competitively priced and user-friendly are the requirements that an HPC system must meet. The last product that has been given these properties is a level system for caravans. A hydraulic-electronic lightweight solution that can carry a load of up to 3 tons.

The most extensive set consists of four electric motors that are mounted in the existing corner supports, and two hydraulic jacks for the transverse axle. This allows you to lift, level and stabilize the caravan within 90 seconds. Only two jacks on the axle for leveling, or only the four electric cornering supports for stabilization is also a possibility. You operate the system with an app on your smartphone. When the caravan's battery is empty, you can still operate the level system with a manual emergency control. The price for all this caravan convenience is around € 3500.

Level system for campers

HPC's automatic leveling system can lift, level and stabilize a vehicle up to 30 tons so that unwanted movements are prevented. And all this without having to spend endless hours on ramps. The HPC system has a number of striking advantages.

Weight

The weight is one of them. By making the jacks from anodized aluminum instead of steel, corrosion is not only excluded, but it also makes a significant difference in weight, which a level system contributes to the weight of a camper. While another steel system weighs about 90kg, the HPC leveler leaves approximately 55kg. A difference that can prevent a fine for overcharging.

System

HPC has integrated the operation of the system into a touchscreen. An advantage over just a few buttons as you can show a clear image to visualize what the system is doing. Error messages can be read out and it is ready for the future, it is possible to perform an update via a USB port or Bluetooth connection.

In addition to the touchscreen, the system can also be operated with an app on your smartphone. An extra safety feature that allows you to see outside the camper whether everything is going as you wish. And for a lack of power there is emergency operation with a hand pump.

Safety

The necessary safety facilities are also provided. The system does not work without applying the handbrake. If you want to drive away with the jacks still extended, you will receive warnings and you cannot set off until you have corrected the mistake.

Quick

It also works quickly. Within 90 seconds you will be level or ready to drive again. The base plates of the jacks can move so that they remain stable on an uneven surface. When retracted, the plates tighten so that they cannot rattle during the ride.

In addition to comfort and convenience, the system has a few more advantages: by tilting the camper, the tanks are completely emptied and you can lift the camper in the garage, which protects the tires. A complete level system from HPC has a price of around €5500.

Auxiliary air suspension systems

Every camper driver knows it: overtake a truck when the wind is blowing and quite a few swaying movements occur. The standard suspension of the commercial vehicle that serves as a camper base is not designed to always drive with the maximum load. Auxiliary air suspension helps prevent this problem. An air spring is then added to the existing suspension.

The HPC air system is double-acting, meaning that each bellows is individually controlled by an air pump. This greatly improves driving behavior. The sensitivity to crosswinds decreases and with more pressure on the front wheels the camper steers a lot better. It also reduces tire wear. You can also level the camper with air springs, provided the unevenness is not too great. However, stabilization as is possible with a level system is not possible. You can combine both systems for ultimate convenience and comfort at the camper site and on the road.
