Bowlus Road Chief: when it can cost a bit
When it comes to American caravans, you usually immediately think of an iconic Airstream. But there are more manufacturers of similar caravans there. Airstream wasn't even the first. Take Bowlus Road Chief as an example. Anyone who looks at the special Wave Edition of the already quite luxurious Endless Highways model will see that in America they know very well how to build luxury caravans.

Blank Aluminium
Bowlus Road Chief also often provides the caravan with a bare aluminum exterior. Protected against oxidation by a varnish or lacquer layer. That's not surprising, because the founder of this company, Hawley Bowlus, was the first to bring a caravan with such an exterior to the market in 1934. The shape of the design was familiar to him, as he was a professional aircraft designer. After a bankruptcy, his idea was taken over by a former employee, which then led to the Airstream brand. A few years ago, the brand name and trademark rights of Bowlus Road Chief were bought by design enthusiast and car collector John Long. He restored an old model, founded a new company, and then had a number of new models developed.

Two models
Bowlus Road Chief currently builds two models. The On the Road, 7.32 meters long, and the Endless Highways, 7.92 meters. The shape of these models is special. If you were to turn the caravan upside down, it would somewhat resemble Noah's Ark. With this, along with the shiny bare aluminum exterior, you certainly stand out. Furthermore, both models have four berths and a front kitchen. In terms of price, to put it mildly, they are in the higher segment. The On the Road is available from 135,000 dollars, the Endless Highway costs at least 185,000 dollars. What both models have in common is the streamline, four berths, and a kitchen in the bow.

Bowlus Road Chief Wave Edition
The limited edition Wave Edition stands out due to the nautical style of the interior. Composed of dark and light wood, combined with white and blue upholstery. The canvas curtains complete the nautical look. Moreover, not just any wood decor is used. The tables and floor are made of high-quality walnut wood and the walls are finished with clear lacquered birch wood. The two seating groups can be converted into two berths. Furthermore, there are two single beds in the pointed rear. The bathroom is also exclusively and luxuriously furnished. The entire caravan is also equipped with a beautiful teak floor. The kitchen has aluminum cabinets and fronts and is equipped with all appliances. The price also has a nautical touch. The Bowlus Road Chief Wave Edition, at 225,000 dollars, comes quite close to a luxury motor yacht.
