Hobby Prestige 560 FC: Surprising layout
For decades, the brand led the sales statistics, but for several years now, Hobby has had to concede to its stablemate Fendt. Nevertheless, the North German brand remains a sales hit. New for 2020 is the Hobby Prestige 560 FC, a caravan with many surprises.
For model year 2020, there is a lot of news at Hobby, although the entry-level OnTour series and the top-of-the-range Premium series remain virtually unchanged. The DeLuxe series expands with five new models to a total of 18 layout variants, including six layouts with bunk beds for the children. We also see many family layouts in the DeLuxe Edition. For those traveling together, the Excellent series offers many interesting models. Also in the Prestige, we see a newcomer among the two-person caravans: the Hobby Prestige 560 FC. With a French bed, a spacious bathroom, and an extra-large round seating area.

Exterior of the Prestige
Striking about the Prestige is the angular rear, a novelty from last year. Hobby is so pleased with it that the other model series have now also been upgraded with it. The bumper has angular lines with newly developed, integrated taillights with an anthracite-colored diffuser underneath, which should give the rear of the new Prestige an automotive look. The sturdy handles are made of chrome.
The Hobby Prestige 560 FC is equipped with hammered plating, drawbar cover, a jockey wheel with nose weight gauge, and a stabilizer coupling. Striking are the large refrigerator grilles that betray the presence of the large 150-liter Dometic refrigerator – exclusively developed for Hobby.

Enormous round seating area
Immediately to the right after the extra-large entrance door, we see an enormous round seating area with luxurious cushions in two colors with an extra, dark brown style accent. The overhead cabinets are in duotone with chrome strips and integrated handles in those strips. Open storage compartments are placed under the overhead cabinets – handy for small items that are thus directly within reach. The living area has indirect lighting under the overhead cabinets and along the ceiling, and (dimmable) reading lights and ceiling spotlights are placed in logical places.
Spacious corner kitchen
The spacious corner kitchen has plenty of storage space for cooking utensils in the wide drawers, we see a pull-out corner cabinet and a combined three-burner hob plus sink is installed in the worktop. The bar area between the kitchen and the round seating area, with extra storage space, is convenient. The kitchen's wall cabinets are in cream and there are small storage spaces for herbs. Around the window, an easy-to-clean splashback has been installed, equipped with two 230V sockets and (nice!) two USBs.
Opposite the kitchen, we find the enormous 150-liter refrigerator (including a 15-liter freezer compartment), with a glass cabinet and a small dresser on the left and a large wardrobe for clothes and an extra cabinet underneath on the right.

Sleeping area and bathroom
The French bed at the back of the caravan looks very comfortable and has a lot of storage space above the bed. Next to the sleeping area, we see the extra-large bathroom, with the shower cabin completely against the back wall of the caravan, then a Thetford swivel toilet and finally a small washbasin, with a large mirror above it and a shallow vanity unit for toiletries.
Installations
Hobby caravans are characterized by the all-inclusive concept: everything is already included. Central control for lighting and heating, large roof hatch, screen door, drawbar cover, a nice wide door with a window, up to and including a socket on the awning side and plenty of 230 Volt sockets inside. A Truma Combi 6 provides heating and hot water in the kitchen and in the shower.

Conclusion Hobby Prestige 560 FC
The Hobby Prestige 560 FC is a richly equipped caravan with a modern look. The enormous round seating area offers space for a large group, the kitchen is an Eldorado for aspiring chefs and with such a bathroom, you'll never have to go to the sanitary building again. A downside is the limited payload in the standard version. But if you increase the maximum axle load to two tons – and purchase a suitable towing vehicle – you won't hear us complaining about that anymore.
