Hobby Prestige 560 FC: Surprising layout

Hobby Prestige 560 FC: Surprising layout

For decades the brand led the sales statistics, but for several years now Hobby has had to put up with its stablemate Fendt. Yet the North German brand remains a sales stunner. New for 2020 is the Hobby Prestige 560 FC, a caravan with many surprises.

There is a lot of news at Hobby for the 2020 model year, although the entry-level OnTour series and the top Premium series remain virtually unchanged. The DeLuxe series is expanding with five new models to a total of 18 layout variants, including six layouts with bunk beds for children. We also see many family layouts with the DeLuxe Edition. The Excellent series offers many interesting models for those who travel together. We also see a newcomer among the two-person caravans with the Prestige: the Hobby Prestige 560 FC. With French bed, a spacious bathroom and an extra large round seat.

Exterior of the Prestige

What is striking about the Prestige is the angular rear, an innovation from last year. Hobby is so satisfied with it that the other model series have now also been upgraded with it. The bumper has angular lines with newly developed, integrated rear lights with an anthracite-colored diffuser underneath, which should give the rear of the new Prestige an automotive look. The sturdy handles are made of chrome.

The Hobby Prestige 560 FC is equipped with hammer-blow plating, drawbar cover, a nose wheel with ball pressure gauge and a stabilizer coupling. The large refrigerator grilles are striking, which reveal the presence of the large 150 liter Dometic refrigerator - developed exclusively for Hobby.

Huge round seat

Immediately to the right after the extra large entrance door we see a huge round seat with luxurious cushions in two colors with an extra, dark brown style accent. The upper cabinets are made in duotone with chrome strips and handles integrated into the strips. There are open shelves under the upper cabinets – useful for small items that are immediately within reach. The living area has indirect lighting under the upper cabinets and along the ceiling, and (dimmable) reading lamps and ceiling spotlights have been installed in logical places.

Spacious corner kitchen

The spacious corner kitchen has plenty of storage space for cooking utensils in the wide drawers, we see a pull-out corner cupboard and the worktop has a combined three-burner stove plus sink. The bar area between the kitchen and the lounge is useful, with extra storage space. The kitchen's upper cabinets are made of cream and there are small storage spaces for spices. An easy-to-clean splashback has been installed around the window, equipped with two 230V sockets and (nice!) two USBs.

Opposite the kitchen we find the enormous 150 liter refrigerator (including 15 liter freezer compartment), with a glass cabinet and a small dresser on the left and a large hanging cupboard for clothes and an extra cupboard underneath on the right.

Sleeping area and bathroom

The French bed in the back of the caravan looks very comfortable and has plenty of storage space above the bed. Next to the sleeping area we see the extra large bathroom, with the shower cabin all the way against the rear wall of the caravan, then a Thetford swivel toilet and finally a sink, with a large mirror above and a shallow washbasin for toiletries.

Installations

Hobby caravans are characterized by the all-inclusive concept: everything is already included. Central controls for lighting and heater, large roof hatch, screen door, drawbar cover, a nice wide door with window, up to and including a socket on the awning side and quite a few 230 Volt sockets inside. A Truma Combi 6 provides heating and hot water in the kitchen and in the shower.

Conclusion Hobby Prestige 560 FC

The Hobby Prestige 560 FC is a generously equipped caravan with a modern look. The enormous round seating area offers space for a large group, the kitchen is an El Dorado for aspiring chefs and with a bathroom like this you never have to go to the sanitary building again. A downside is the limited loading capacity in the standard version. But if you increase the maximum axle load to two tons - and purchase a suitable tow vehicle - you will no longer hear us complaining about it.
