iCamp folding caravan: 100% Dutch made
No more than 28 seconds are needed to set up the iCamp. Then you can unfold your chair and switch on the coffee machine for a fresh cup of coffee. It's not a caravan, it's not a folding trailer: it's… a folding caravan. Made in Holland.
It takes half a minute to set up the iCamp. No more, no less. It was one of the ideas Hans Udo had when he conceived his iCamp folding caravan. Comfort and convenience. And: he wanted something different from the average folding trailers he saw at campsites. Hundreds of sketches followed, then models made of styrofoam and wood. When he met polyester specialist Robert van Eekeren, it clicked immediately. In 2016 they founded Udo Camp and in 2017 the first folding caravan premiered at trade fairs.

iCamp Exterior
Beautiful lines. That's the first thing you notice when you look at the 4.34 meter long, polyester body. The round 'rear' and integrated taillights give the iCamp a design look. The folding caravan is built on an Al-Ko chassis and with a width of 1.75 cm, even the narrowest Italian roads are no problem. The vehicle has a 60 liter trunk and on the right side it has two service hatches: one for camping furniture, the other offers space for the extendable kitchen, which can be used both indoors and outdoors.
At the front, the polyester pop-top roof is equipped with an integrated roof rack for extra luggage or a few bicycles. Smart: the pop-top roof is electrically operated with the supplied remote control. In 28 seconds, the roof rises together with the pre-assembled tent made of Ten Cate fabric. Those who also want to mount an awning or canopy (options) briefly interrupt the lifting process to attach the top of the awning/canopy to the rail – after that, the roof can continue to rise and setting up is a piece of cake.

iCamp Interior
Of the body length (4.34 meters), 3.70 meters of living space remains inside: at the rear, quite a few centimeters are taken up by the trunk, inspired by passenger cars. Inside, at the rear, we see a comfortable round seating area; at the front, a bench is mounted that can also be used as a sleeping place. Underneath that bench, the pull-out kitchen is hidden: we see a four-burner gas stove, a small sink with an electric tap, and a 40-liter cool box with a lid. On nice days, you can also cook outside: when extended, an extra leg supports the outdoor kitchen. The round seating area and bench provide seating for 6 to 8 people, and you can convert both seating groups into beds. With some improvisation, you can effortlessly go on the road with the whole family.
Technical installations
One of the most striking installations is the electrically operated pop-top roof. Two columns push the roof up in less than half a minute – Udo Camp is so convinced of the system that it offers a 10-year warranty on it. On board, we see a 12 Volt battery with a trickle charger, and on the options list, there is a choice of an electric heater or even a parking heater. On board, we see three 230 Volt sockets and no fewer than six USB sockets – many caravan and camper manufacturers could take a leaf out of their book.

Conclusion test iCamp
The iCamp is nothing like the folding caravans of yesteryear, such as the Esterel – which, incidentally, was made with 'hard' walls instead of tent fabric. The flowing lines at the rear, the sleek polyester work, the special pop-top roof construction, the clever pull-out kitchen: it indicates that the vehicle has been well thought out. With a starting price of over 15 thousand, Udo Camp positions its folding caravan in the upper class, between the folding trailers of Holtkamper and the 'real' touring caravans of the established order.
