Dethleffs C’go Up! 525 KR: 7 berths

The Dethleffs C'go series is a fresh appearance in the caravan world. Its light interior and cheerful colors make the caravan strikingly different. With the recently introduced 525 KR, you even have seven berths at your disposal.

Count them: two sleeping places in the bunk bed, a spacious double lift bed that lowers from the ceiling above the dinette, and the dinette that can be converted into a bed with three sleeping places if desired. With seven berths, the Dethleffs C’go Up! 525 KR is ideally suited for large and blended families.

Exterior

Two models of the C’go Up! are available: the 525 KR that we are reviewing for this test, and a more compact version: the 465 KR with a total of six berths. Both have a lift bed, bunk bed, and a dinette that can be converted into a double bed (465 KR) or even a triple bed (525 KR).

Both Ups are 230 cm wide and have an aluminum hammered finish on the outside. The front, roof, and rear are made of hail-resistant GFK: polyester. In the spacious drawbar box, you can easily place two gas bottles and a spare wheel. At the location of the bunk bed on the right outside, you will find a large service hatch that provides access to the luggage compartment under the bunk bed. The bottom layer of that bunk bed can be folded up: handy, because this gives you even more luggage space on the go.

Living, eating, sleeping

As soon as you enter, you see the enormous round seating area at the back of the caravan. For the upholstery, a modern sea-green color was chosen in the test model, but three other colors are also available. The overhead cabinets and other furniture parts are finished in 'pearl white', subtly combined with dark wood tones, for example around the window frames. It gives the caravan a fresh, spacious look.

Above the dinette, the lift bed is hidden against the ceiling. With one hand movement, you pull it down, with the overhead cabinets lowering to just above the back cushions of the dinette – which you therefore do not have to move. To accommodate the lift bed, the caravan is built a bit higher, resulting in a generous headroom: 208 centimeters. Directly to the right of the entrance door, we find the kitchen with plenty of storage space for cooking utensils in the easily accessible drawers.

Opposite that is the bathroom (with toilet and sink), next to it a large refrigerator and then a wardrobe for clothes. The front of the 525 KR can be completely separated from the rest of the caravan interior. Behind the sliding/folding door, you will find the bunk bed against the right wall with its own seating area for the children opposite it. With the door closed, a private play and sleep paradise is created for the little holidaymakers.

Technical installations

You cook in the C'go Up! with three gas burners, equipped with automatic piezo ignition and a safety device against blowing out, which shuts off the gas supply. The caravan is equipped with a spacious 142-liter refrigerator with freezer compartment. The caravan interior has indirect LED lighting and easy-to-operate reading spotlights. Heating is provided by a Truma heater.

Conclusion caravan test Dethleffs C’go Up

With the C’go Up! series, Dethleffs clearly targets large and blended families. Both the 465 and the 525 have excellent standard equipment. Tip: immediately check the Touring package from the options list. Including a boiler, large roof hatch, screen door, and shower extension for the bathroom. The payload of 220 kilos might be a bit tight if you actually go on the road with six or seven people. If your car can handle it, you can have the maximum permissible mass upgraded. This immediately adds 200 kilos of payload.
