Fendt Bianco Activ 390 FHS: popular layout
The German brand Fendt is the market leader when it comes to newly sold caravans in the Netherlands. For the Dutch market, the Bianco 390 FHS is an interesting caravan, due to its still modest dimensions and: the French bed.
For years, Hobby held the position of best-selling caravans, but for several years now, Fendt has been leading that ranking. In total, the Bavarian manufacturer from Mertingen offers 44 floor plans, twelve upholstery types and 5 different wood decors – so there's plenty to choose from.
Fendt Exterior
On the outside, the Fendt caravans for model year 2020 have received a different striping that makes them look just a bit more spirited than in previous years. The traditional hammered finish of the aluminum plating has remained. Smart details include the water cap for the drinking water tank, which – just like the fuel cap of passenger cars – is attached to the caravan with a handy cord. So you'll never lose it again.
The fact that Fendt designers themselves also camp is also evident from other clever features such as the service hatches that are mounted so high in the caravan wall that when opened, they do not hang on a muddy lawn but just above it. For model year 2020, the door has been newly developed and the wheel arches have received better insulation.
Ease of use
The Fendt Bianco Activ 390 FHS has only been slightly modified for model year 2020, but this small change provides a lot of convenience. In this model, the kitchen is against the back wall and the new 133-liter Dometic refrigerator has been rotated a quarter turn. So you can grab something directly from the Slim Tower refrigerator from the awning. And because the Slim Tower hinges on both sides, you can also grab something directly from the refrigerator inside. The kitchen has a three-burner gas stove and a one-piece stainless steel sink, neatly integrated into the worktop and equipped with safety glass covers. Below that, we see three spacious storage drawers.
Comfortable train seat dinette
Immediately next to the kitchen is the train seat dinette, with comfortable corner cushions against the caravan wall, so you can comfortably read a book. Furniture is made in a fresh, light wood color and overhead cabinet doors are in white. Here we also see the newly developed gooseneck reading lights for 2020, and striking are the open compartments directly under the overhead cabinets, handy for small items. A clever detail can also be seen in the wardrobes, which are equipped with a motion sensor so that the light in the wardrobe always turns on as soon as you open it.
Sleeping area
At the front of the caravan is the French bed: a double bed placed lengthwise in the caravan, with a slanted end at the foot. This allows easy access to the washing area, which includes a sink and ample storage space for toiletries. The toilet is located next to the head of the bed, against the front wall of the caravan, on the right side. Optionally, you can order a shower here – the toilet room is already prepared for it.
Installations
The caravan is equipped with a fixed fresh water tank and hot water comes from the Truma Combi-4, which is also used for heating. Water and gas pipes are neatly concealed, as we are used to from Fendt, and the same applies to the electrical wiring.
Conclusion caravan test Fendt Bianco Activ
This Bianco Activ is a compact two-person caravan. The caravan features clever details that will be highly appreciated by experienced campers. The new kitchen layout with the Dometic Slim-Tower refrigerator provides even more user-friendliness, and the caravan is finished to the highest standards. One small point of criticism: the lack of USB connections near the bed – the dealer will have to solve that.
