Sprite Cruzer 495 SR: With bathroom paradise
Swift caravans are built in Great Britain. Special caravans, not only because of their very British layouts and appearance, but also because of their equipment level – manufacturers on 'the continent' could learn a thing or two from them... For this test, we are looking at the Sprite Cruzer 495 SR
The Sprite Cruzer 495 SR is the most spacious four-person caravan in the Cruzer series, with the inevitable English kitchen, a French bed and a very special bathroom.

But let's start with the construction. The Cruzer has smooth polyester walls with no wood incorporated. These wooden frames have been replaced by 'Pure', a polyurethane-based – and therefore completely waterproof – product, so that any moisture has no chance of causing damage. The factory gives up to 10 years warranty against moisture ingress.
The Cruzer SR has beautiful alloy wheels, but it is mainly the front that gives it character, with the high-gloss black front. A large panoramic roof window is also incorporated into that front – Sprite was one of the first caravan manufacturers to do so. The roof, front and rear are also made of polyester and the floor panel is also covered with the same material, as protection against stone chips and splashing water. The caravan can be loaded up to 1,550 kg.
Living, eating, sleeping
Inside, the typical British layout immediately stands out: large longitudinal benches, the profile of which clearly shows that you will find a comfortable place to relax here. The spring-loaded cushions are specially developed for seating comfort, but an extra slatted base rolls out of the narrow cabinet at the front, so you can also convert the entire seating area into a spacious double bed. Swift supplies two Duvalay top mattresses as standard, guaranteeing sleeping comfort.
Another typical British detail is the three-part front window and of course the kitchen, although we can no longer call that a detail. The heart of the kitchen is formed by the gas stove: an oven combination with grill, from which you conjure up your breakfast toast in the morning. Further back we find the French bed, with behind it the pièce de résistance of the Cruzer: the spacious bathroom is located here over the full width of the caravan. With a separate toilet on one side, a washbasin in the middle and then the large shower cabin – in similar dimensions to home. The lighting in the caravan is neatly in order and during the day the enormous panoramic window provides a lot of light, making the caravan look extra spacious.
