Tabbert Puccini 550 E: top-segment design caravan
Tabbert is a top-segment brand in the European caravan world. One of the most exclusive series in the German manufacturer's model range is the Puccini. Get to know the new Puccini, a luxurious top-segment design caravan. We tested the Tabbert Puccini 550 E.
For model year 2020, Tabbert presents the Puccini in five versions. We looked at the Puccini 550 E 2.5, where the latter designation stands for the width: 250 cm. With a ready-to-drive mass of 1,600 kg and a maximum permissible weight of 1,800 kg, it is a caravan for which you need a powerful towing vehicle.
The exterior
On the outside, the Puccini 550 E has smooth plating with beautiful flush-mounted windows that you usually only find on more expensive motorhomes. Chrome trim gives the caravan extra cachet. The Tabbert logo is prominently displayed in the center, its contours reflected in the design of the 17-inch alloy wheels.

The drawbar box has a parallelogram construction, allowing it to open wide. Handy for placing gas bottles, and you can also quickly access other holiday items in the drawbar box. Even if a (preferably tiltable) bicycle carrier is mounted on the drawbar. Under the floor panel, we see that the Puccini is equipped with AL-KO's anti-snaking system – which is part of the standard equipment.
Layout Puccini 550 E
When we open the extra-wide entrance door (70 cm), we immediately see the transversely placed Dometic refrigerator on the right. It hinges on two sides, so you can easily grab a bottle of wine from outside. As soon as you step inside, you enter a kind of light lock: the plexiglass ceiling with LED lighting looks – with a little imagination – like a starry sky. Immediately to the left, the Puccini has a large round seating area with cream-colored leather upholstery and overhead cabinets in duotone: beautiful wood colors combined with light plastic and subtle chrome accents. The dimmable ambient lighting is invisibly integrated along the ceiling.

Plenty of workspace
Directly opposite the entrance door is a large kitchen with three full-width drawers – each drawer with LED lighting. The thick worktop with recessed sink and the three-burner stove offers plenty of workspace.
Next to the kitchen, we find the bathroom with toilet and shower, and here too, LED lighting is present, in the same design as at the caravan's entrance. Behind the mirrored doors, there is ample space for toiletries, and the mirrors make the bathroom appear extra spacious. Opposite the bathroom, a large storage unit has been placed, including a pull-out pantry and a TV on a swivel arm, which can be rotated towards both the round seating area and the bedroom.

Two single beds
At the front of the Puccini, we find the bedroom with two wide single beds – the beds can be connected with an intermediate piece. There is plenty of cupboard space in the bedroom, behind light cupboard doors and subtle wood accents. The headboard of both beds is equipped with two separate reading lights and a mirror with indirect lighting – another design element.
Installations
As we can expect from Tabbert, the pipes and wiring of the Puccini 550 E are neatly installed and concealed. The Truma Combi 6 with ring heating provides heating and hot water: also controllable from your phone. Underfloor heating is standard on board. The Puccini is amply equipped with 230 Volt points and USBs. The Puccinis are supplied as standard with a BWT drinking water filter and a GPS tracking system. Tabbert gives a 10-year warranty on watertightness.

Conclusion Puccini 550 E
The Tabbert Puccini 550 E is excellently built, neatly finished and with (a lot of) attention to detail. The equipment is very complete and that explains the – hefty – price tag. The design and luxurious appearance are special. This makes the Puccini one of the most special caravans currently for sale. With a maximum permissible weight of 1,800 kilos, you will need a powerful towing vehicle. Also for the holiday luggage, because the payload of the Puccini 550 E is on the tight side.
