Tabbert Puccini 550 E: designer caravan from the top segment
Tabbert is a brand from the top segment in the European caravan world. One of the most exclusive series from the German manufacturer's model range is the Puccini. Meet the new Puccini, a luxury design caravan from the top segment. We tested the Tabbert Puccini 550 E.
For model year 2020, Tabbert presents the Puccini in five versions. We looked at the Puccini 550 E 2,5, where the latter indication stands for the width: 250 cm. With a curb mass of 1.600 kg and a maximum permitted weight of 1.800 kilos, it is a caravan that requires a large tow vehicle.
The outside
On the outside, the Puccini 550 E has smooth plating with beautiful built-in windows that you usually only find in more expensive campers. Chrome moldings give the caravan extra cachet. The Tabbert logo is centrally located, the contours of which are reflected in the design of the 17-inch alloy wheels.
The drawbar box has a parallelogram construction, which means it opens wide. Handy for placing gas bottles and you can also quickly access other holiday items in the gas bottle compartment. Even if a (preferably tiltable) bicycle carrier is mounted on the drawbar. Under the base plate we see that the Puccini is equipped with AL-KO's anti-sway system - which is part of the standard equipment.
Layout Puccini 550 E
When we open the extra wide entrance door (70 cm), we immediately see the transverse Dometic refrigerator on the right. It is hinged on two sides, so you can easily grab a bottle of wine from the outside. As soon as you step inside, you enter a kind of light barrier: the plexiglass ceiling with LED lighting resembles - with a little imagination - a starry sky. Immediately on the left, the Puccini has a large round seat with cream-colored leather upholstery and above it the upper cabinets in duotone: beautiful wood colors combined with light plastic and subtle chrome accents. The dimmable ambient lighting is invisibly concealed along the ceiling.
Plenty of work space
Directly opposite the entrance door is a large kitchen with three full-width drawers - each drawer with LED lighting. The thick worktop with recessed sink and three-burner stove offers plenty of work space.
Next to the kitchen we find the bathroom with toilet and shower and LED lighting is also used here, in the same design as at the entrance to the caravan. Behind the mirror doors there is plenty of space for toiletries and the mirrors make the bathroom look extra spacious. Opposite the bathroom is a large storage unit containing, among other things, a pharmacy cabinet and a TV on a swivel arm, which can be swiveled towards both the round lounge and the bedroom.
Two single beds
At the front of the Puccini we find the bedroom with two wide single beds - the beds can be connected with an intermediate piece. There is plenty of cupboard space in the bedroom, behind light cupboard flaps and subtle wood accents. The headboard of both beds has two separate reading lamps and a mirror with indirect lighting - another design element.
Installations
As we would expect from Tabbert, the pipes and wiring of the Puccini 550 E are neatly laid out and concealed. The Truma Combi 6 with ring heating provides heating and hot water: you can also operate it from your phone. Underfloor heating is standard on board. The Puccini is well equipped with 230 Volt points and USBs. The Puccini's come standard with a BWT drinking water filter and a GPS tracking system. Tabbert gives a 10-year warranty on watertightness.
Conclusion Puccini 550 E
The Tabbert Puccini 550 E is excellently built, neatly finished and with (very) great attention to detail. The equipment is very complete and that explains the – hefty – price tag. The design and luxurious appearance are special. This makes the Puccini one of the most special caravans currently for sale. With a maximum permitted weight of 1.800 kilos, you will need a large tow vehicle. Also for holiday luggage, because the loading capacity of the Puccini 550 E is on the tight side.
