A caravan without gas bottles: that's the Weinsberg CaraCito. Cooking and heating are fully electric, and the same goes for the refrigerator and the standard air conditioning. And all that with a starting price of just over 12 thousand – a world first!

Weinsberg is the entry-level brand of the Knaus Tabbert Group. The caravans and motorhomes of this brand are built in the ultra-modern factory in Hungary and receive a final inspection at Knaus in Jandelsbrunn, Germany. Weinsberg often attracts attention with special editions, such as the Pepper: the best-selling motorhome in the Netherlands. Weinsberg also stands out in the caravan sector, for example with the CaraCito: the world's first series-produced caravan without gas – a world first.

Exterior

The CaraCito series consists of five different models. We are looking at the smallest, the 390 QD. Like the larger models, it is equipped with hammered plating: dimpled aluminum that can take a beating. The caravan is built on an AL-KO chassis and is equipped with a stabilizer coupling. On the outside, the CaraCito has a no-nonsense appearance with dark grey striping, wheel arches and sporty skirts at the bottom of the side walls. A service hatch is placed on the left side of the caravan: handy for retrieving items from the luggage compartment under the double bed. The drawbar box has plenty of luggage space, especially since no gas bottles are taken on holiday.

Living, cooking, sleeping

With the CaraCito, Weinsberg targets a younger audience. This is reflected in the price and the styling of this vehicle. Striking is the youthful appearance, with a light wood decor, caramel-colored furniture panels and a modern design for the kitchen worktop and the table in the dinette. The seating area has two-tone upholstery and is located directly opposite the entrance door. The dinette can also be converted into a third sleeping place.

Immediately next to the entrance is the bathroom with toilet, sink and plenty of storage space for toiletries. Optionally, you can have the bathroom extended with a shower. At the front we see a double bed across the full width of the caravan, with a large luggage compartment underneath, which also houses the – standard – air conditioning.

Under the trendy countertop we find the refrigerator and next to it three drawers for cooking utensils.

Opposite the refrigerator is a spacious wardrobe with a hanging and a shelving section. Against the ceiling there are spacious overhead lockers everywhere with straight, handleless cabinet doors with indirect LED lighting above them. Reading lights are mounted under the overhead lockers in the right places.

Immediately next to the entrance is the bathroom.

Installations

The most special feature of the CaraCito is the technical installation, where gas equipment and gas pipes are completely absent. The so-called bench air conditioning works entirely on electricity and, thanks to the heat pump technology, it can also be used for heating – a special technique that is only applied in more expensive air conditioning models. The compressor refrigerator and the cooking area are also electric. Due to the absence of gas bottles, there is also a lot of space left in the drawbar box. Optionally, you can still have the CaraCito equipped with a traditional gas hob and Truma gas heating.

Conclusion

The Weinsberg CaraCito stands out for its starting price of just under 12 thousand euros and its 100 percent electric equipment. The design gives the caravan a youthful appearance and standard air conditioning has never been seen before in a caravan in this price range.
