Camping with children

Camping is a very enjoyable activity for many people. Relaxing in nature and enjoying only the things you really need. You can choose a luxury campsite or a small-scale campsite that only offers daily necessities. As a parent, it can be quite challenging to go camping with (young) children. The campsite should offer enough for you and your children to have a good time together. This often also depends on the age of the children. If you search well and find a suitable campsite, camping will bring wonderful memories for later. In this blog, you will read a number of tips to make a camping holiday with children run smoothly.

Bedtime

During camping, sleep routines are often relaxed a bit. Children often make many new friends at the campsite and if the weather is nice, they play with their friends all evening. A tip is to let go of bedtime a bit, but do agree on a time when they have to be back if they go out again after dinner. For small children, it is easier to get them to bed around a certain time. A tip to get your toddler or preschooler into their toddler bed or children's bed at a reasonable time is to let them play with some toys or read a book in their bed. They often get tired quickly and fall asleep.

Rainy days

The difficult thing about camping, especially in the Netherlands, is that you are totally dependent on the weather. If the weather is disappointing, it can be a challenge to entertain your children. If you have a campsite with an indoor playground, swimming pool, arcade or lounge area, this does not have to be a problem, but then you are really going to the more luxurious campsites.

  • Games

Make sure you have enough games to play with your children on such days

  • Toys

Also make sure they have some toys with them to entertain themselves

  • Book

Especially if your children like to read, books are a good option. On bad days, they can entertain themselves with a book.

  • Technology

A tablet or small television can be very entertaining for children on holiday. If there are less pleasant moments, the children can entertain themselves with this.

  • Activities outside the campsite

There is always something fun to do nearby. Find a suitable location where you and your children can entertain yourselves for a whole afternoon.

Campsite activities

If you also want to relax, choose a campsite that has a program for children. This way, children can enjoy fun games, scavenger hunts, puzzles, sports and much more with other children. This way they get to know other children and are happily occupied while you enjoy a well-deserved holiday. Going to the campsite with children is therefore certainly a good idea. Make sure you have things to do with small children, but often this happens automatically at a nice campsite.
