A year of manufacture alone is often too broad; the date of first admission is usually leading. This preliminary work helps you quickly see if your input matches a standard variant one-to-one. If “gaps” arise (for example, multiple variants that almost match), you want to see that immediately. Then you also know where the problem lies: in the execution, in the date, or in something else. That makes your outcome more explainable.
Price list: nice and fast, but campers don't always fit in the box
A price list is useful if your camper is easily comparable to a standard variant. Then the software can quickly pick a logical value, because the version and basic data exactly match what you select, and because the condition does not noticeably deviate.
For campers, the gain often lies in an extra check on conversions and options. You want the chosen execution to match what is officially registered, so you don't have to defend afterwards why you chose “approximately this one”. Also consider the condition of the interior and superstructure, as this is not always accurately reflected in a standard valuation. Do you see that there is no execution that exactly matches, or that multiple choices “almost” match? Take that seriously: then the match is not tight and a price list quickly becomes a gamble.
A price list is therefore especially useful if your camper's specifications and condition are directly comparable and your input is accurate down to the last detail.
Appraisal: more paperwork, but often stronger if your camper is unique
Valuation is especially useful if your camper clearly deviates from what you can find in a standard list. Think of visible damage, clear wear and tear, or an execution that you cannot select one-to-one. The advantage: you don't have to make your camper “average”, but you can substantiate what is specific about your vehicle.
Do keep in mind the extra lead time, as you are working with substantiation and a report. Photos and concrete descriptions fit well with this, and documentation usually makes the story easier to follow. If a price list pushes you towards “filling in by feel”, appraisal is often calmer: the report concretely includes condition and execution.
Selection aid: when do you choose what?
The approach is simple: a price list if your camper exactly matches standard variants, an appraisal if the camper visibly or substantially deviates. If your version is not exactly listed, or if data cannot be verified one-on-one? Then make sure your data is correct and verifiable first, and only then make your choice. This way, calculating residual BPM remains something you can substantiate, instead of a number you later have to explain.
