Texel is surprisingly versatile and has a lot to offer. You will find peace, space and unique nature. Take a lovely walk on the beach or enjoy the changing views during a bike ride. Texel may seem far away, but that is not so bad. A ferry departs from Den Helder every hour and the crossing only takes 20 minutes. Booking in advance is not necessary. TESO, the ferry service, charges a meter price for a car with a caravan. So you pay less for a small caravan than for a large caravan. Tip: on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays you get an extra discount on a crossing.

Wide range of campsites

Wake up wonderfully, in the middle of nature. That is possible on Texel. You can choose from many different campsites. There are campsites in the dunes, near the forest or close to a village. Or how about a farm campsite? All campsites have various facilities. There are campsites with a launderette, playground, recreation program or restaurant.

You can really enjoy nature on Texel. You will see special plants and animals and you will have plenty of space. And the most diverse nature reserves are within easy reach. There is a great diversity of landscapes: dunes, forests, heaths, polders, beaches, mudflats and hilly terrain. No less than a quarter of the island in the National Park and nature reserves is accessible free of charge. The Wadden have even been declared the most beautiful nature reserve in the Netherlands!

Actively explore Texel

Texel is best discovered on foot or by bike. This way you get to the most beautiful places. The island offers more than 300 km of varied hiking and cycling trails. Fancy a little more action? Then you can also go kite surfing, skydiving or hit a ball on the 18-hole golf course.

Texel has fantastic beaches. More than 30 kilometers of snow-white sandy beach awaits you. Here you can enjoy a walk on the beach or a day of relaxation in peace. Perfect after a day at the beach: a drink and a snack at a cozy beach pavilion.

Good food is available in all seven villages on the island. Every year, various Texel restaurants appear in the preference lists of culinary magazines and there is even a restaurant with a Michelin star. The island's chefs like to use all local quality products, such as the famous Texel lamb, fresh asparagus, the famous Texel beer, the best sheep cheeses and local bitters.
