Number of motorhomes in the Netherlands doubled

This week the 150,000th motorhome was sold, doubling the number of motorhomes in the Netherlands in 10 years. This is evident from the figures published this week by the industry association Kampeer & Caravan Industrie (KCI).

“The popularity of motorhomes has been on the rise for years,” says Leo Diepemaat, chairman of the industry association. “For example, we saw a 28 percent increase in the sale of new motorhomes last quarter, with even a 44 percent growth in the month of March 2021.”

Also the NKC sees this growth reflected in its membership numbers. This number has also doubled in the past year, to sixty thousand members. One of the causes of the increase in popularity is the corona crisis. People can still enjoy a holiday in a relatively safe way. And it is not only older target groups who choose this form of holiday. According to the NKC, there is also an increase in the number of young people who own a motorhome.
