ASA Camper Solutions: Beautiful and compact
ASA Camper Solutions: Beautiful and compact
In the North Holland town of Opperdoes, ordinary delivery vans are transformed into the camping vehicle of your dreams. ASA Camper Solutions is a specialist in converting Volkswagen T5 and T6 vans into a Motorhome with an interior layout that meets all your wishes. This is not a uniform standard but a portfolio full of possibilities to furnish the van you purchase yourself according to your own taste. Standard, however, are impeccable build quality and perfectly fitting custom work.
ASA Camper Solutions is an initiative of Allard van Son. An engineer who has made his mark in interior design for the aviation industry. Where space needs to be puzzled out, an ergonomically well-thought-out design is required in a reliable and therefore indestructible execution. A wealth of experience, therefore, which Allard and his team are only too happy to apply to the conversion of your Motorhome.
CNC Milling
The beating heart of the workshop is a CNC milling machine that accurately does what it is instructed to do. Extremely useful for a Motorhome van where all the furniture must seamlessly connect to the bodywork shapes. Moreover, Allard with ASA Camper Solutions is an innovator at heart who continues to develop until it can't get any better. The result of this drive is a collection of files that can be used to operate the CNC machine. Every van can be converted with this, but because there have been many predecessors, a number of practically tested options are immediately available for a recent VW Transporter.
The Method
Starting your Motorhome adventures at ASA Camper Solutions begins with the purchase of a van. You can do this entirely yourself or through the neighbors. That is Autobedrijf Lars van Son, Allard's brother. When the right van is available, the necessary choices are made for the interior conversion. Broadly speaking, this is comfort construction or inside out. The former has a kitchen and cabinet module along the side wall behind the driver's seat. Inside out refers to an outdoor kitchen at the rear where you can cook meteorologically responsibly under the tailgate. However, this is not strictly necessary; the kitchen can also be used from the inside with the tailgate closed. For this, the drawers are designed so that they can slide out to the outside as well as into the interior. The advantage of this layout is a spacious lounge that you can convert into a 150cm wide bed by lowering the table. If you opt for comfort construction, the emphasis is more on traveling with multiple people. This layout with a longitudinal kitchen provides extra seat belts next to a double bed on the adjustable sofa.
The Pop-top roof
You'll find even more berths in the pop-top roof. You can choose from two different brands of pop-top roofs from Reimo or Camproof. Here you can opt for a standard tent canvas or a panorama tent canvas. Moreover, it is zip-out, allowing you to create a real roof terrace or sleep under a starry sky. The bed base for this is upholstered multiplex. A base with disc springs is an option for more comfort. The pop-top roofs used are approved by the RDW and have type approval for all VW T5 and T6 Van conversions.

The Floor
The Motorhome floor is partly responsible for the right look. ASA offers many possibilities in this regard. For example, vinyl with a concrete look, a wood finish, or perhaps you'd prefer PVC tiles with a Portuguese mosaic. All floors are custom-made with the CNC machine for seamless installation. Very convenient for cleaning.

Accessories
The way you will use a Motorhome determines the electronic options that will be installed. If you plan to use the Motorhome as a mobile workspace, a good inverter is necessary. Do you want to be able to make an espresso anywhere or stay off-grid for longer periods? Solar panels offer a solution. But if you are mainly on campsites with a fixed connection, you can also skip the investment in this equipment. ASA Camper Solutions creates an electrical plan based on your personal needs. The standard is a basic electrical package consisting of a leisure battery, dynamo charger, battery charger, and shore power connection. Almost anything is possible as an option. The price of a complete conversion, from an empty van to a comfortable Motorhome with all the trimmings, starts at € 25,000. This includes VAT and the RWD inspection for the reduced tax rate, but excludes the purchase of the base vehicle. You can save on this by accepting a higher mileage or opting for the most fully equipped and best-driving VW Transporter.
ASAP Modules
Under the name ASAP, which does not stand for haste but for “as small as possible”, ASA produces ultra-compact modules to give a passenger van the capabilities of a Motorhome. Not least for the attractive road tax rate that applies to a Motorhome. The modules are space-saving without sacrificing usability. Take the Slimpy, for example. The smallest kitchen available for this purpose. Despite its limited size, this nano-kitchen offers everything you expect from a cooking facility: a one-burner hob, sink with faucet and submersible pump, plus even two USB charging points. Two built-in water tanks of 5 liters each provide supply and disposal of drinking and wastewater. In addition, there is a connection and storage space for a Campinggaz 904 gas bottle. The entire set fits precisely between the second row of seats of a VW T5 and T6 Multivan and can be placed both forwards and backwards, depending on the seat configuration. If desired, it can be easily disconnected for use in an Awning or outdoors. The ASA Slimpy comes standard with a bamboo cover plate with an antibacterial coating and is available in anthracite or aluminum colors. The line-up in ASAP modules is also broad and versatile, not only fitting for VW vans but also for other brands.
