Carpento 310: a grand little one
Carpento caravans are available in three models, with the sloping roofline being particularly striking. The smallest Carpento 310 looks like a mini caravan. But appearances can be deceiving. The Carpento is a full-fledged holiday accommodation, while its 540kg featherweight is barely noticeable on your towbar.
The kink in the roof, a double panoramic window, and a taupe, or optionally a grey, color scheme make the Carpento 310 a striking appearance. The body consists of smooth polyester plating, both inside and out, with a layer of insulation foam in between. This makes the Carpento hail-resistant. The caravan also comes with a 2-year factory warranty and a 7-year warranty on watertightness.
The chassis, coupling, and axle are from Al-Ko, ensuring that driving with the Carpento presents no surprises. At the front, two panoramic windows are placed in window rubbers. These cannot be opened, but the hatches in the roof can. Furthermore, you'll see quite a few connections indicating that the Carpento has a full-fledged interior. A cabinet with two gas bottles, a filler cap for fresh water, and a connection for an outdoor shower, electricity, drainage for the grey water tank, and a hatch to remove the toilet cassette.
Everything is included, which you wouldn't expect in this compact size. The kitchen is located at the rear. A sink with a mixer tap, a stove, and plenty of workspace. The lower and upper cabinets allow you to store all your cooking utensils, and there's a 90L refrigerator for provisions.
Bathroom
Next to the kitchen is a bathroom that would not look out of place in a tandem axle. A Thetford cassette toilet, washbasin with hand shower, medicine cabinet, and a shower tray in the floor. There is nothing to complain about regarding headroom. A roof hatch with a mosquito net provides light and air. You open and close the hatch with a rotary knob. And a push of a button starts a fan.
At the front is the seating area. You also sleep here. The table has no leg but a fixed support for the bed function. By releasing two fasteners, the table lowers, cushions on top, and off to sleep. There is storage space under the benches. The upper cabinets also provide this.
Moss Boten & Caravans has chosen to import an extremely complete version. At €19,945 for the 310, it is not the cheapest compact caravan, but equipped with everything, the price/quality ratio is simply excellent.
