Hymer will build its own chassis from 2021

Hymer developed the super-light SLC chassis together with AL-KO. The next step for this camper builder is to have its own chassis factory in operation from 2021. Construction has already started in Bad Waldsee. The first chassis should roll off the production line next year.

Hymer wants to build more centrally in this way. Then the company is less dependent on suppliers and they can keep things more in their own hands. By building the chassis ourselves from now on, the complete camper will be made by Hymer. Except for the drivetrain.

It is not yet clear how this will work out for the collaboration with AL-KO. However, Hymer already has a competitor in-house with the Goldschmitt company. This person is directly involved in the necessary new developments. The benefits of having your own factory do not have to be limited to the Hymer brand. It is conceivable that other brands of the Erwin Hymer Group will also benefit from this development in the future.
