Young people are looking for campers and caravans

Campsites are increasingly popular. Especially during these times, it is noticeable that explosive growth is taking place. A big advantage is that you can decide to leave at the last minute and if you have your own sanitary facilities, you can go almost anywhere.

According to figures from the Dutch Camper Car Club (NKC), the Netherlands has 131.594 registered campers. The average age of owners is around 62 years, but that age has only been decreasing in recent years. “The number of campers in the Netherlands is growing explosively and there are more and more younger owners,” says Rosanne Vriend of NKC.

Vriend continues: “At first everything came to a standstill, but now that the measures have been relaxed, sellers notice that more people are coming by to get information.”

Because a camper is a major expense, renting is a popular option for people. Especially for the young people. When booking, it is noticeable that many customers are traveling with a camper for the first time. These times make it attractive to try camping and this is very good for the market.

When looking at the age groups looking for campers and caravans, the group between 18 and 24 years has increased the most. Next comes the 25-34 group and where a visible difference is also noticeable is in the 34-44 age group.
