KABE: Swedish top quality in 2021
KABE caravans and campers are known for their extreme winter resistance. The Swedish manufacturer has an impressive amount of expertise in the field of insulation and ventilation, resulting in camping equipment that provides optimal comfort all year round. For model year 2021, KABE is setting new standards in the premium segment.
What is special about KABE products is that the walls, floors and roofs of both caravans and campers are thicker than other manufacturers. This provides better insulation. Because KABE also uses smaller windows, less heat is lost in winter.

This also works the other way around: due to the perfect insulation and the smaller windows, less heat penetrates the interior in the summer, which means that KABE caravans and campers remain cooler in full sun than other brands. Unique to KABE products is the standard Alde liquid heating, which, in combination with the underfloor heating, ensures a comfortable stay under harsh winter conditions - the brand has its own climate chamber in which the caravans and campers are tested to temperatures of minus 30 degrees Celsius. .
Another KABE innovation is the in-house developed and patented VarioVent system, which ensures optimal ventilation in summer and winter in the Swedish brand's caravans and campers.

Gemstones
The most important series of caravans is the so-called Gemstones series, with names such as Ametist, Brilliant, Safir, Smaragd and Diamant. That complete series is equipped with smooth plating for model year 2021. The Gemstones series includes the Classic, which for 2012 is equipped with a new design mini-hammer plating for the aluminum side walls.
The Classic series has the same insulation and heating as the other KABE series, with fewer options and a somewhat shorter equipment list than the other models, resulting in a more favorable entry price. The Classic series contains some interesting models for the Netherlands that are smaller and therefore lighter, plus some models with bunk beds for the children.

For model year 2021, the Classic series will also be expanded with three popular layouts: the Classic 600 GLE B2 with two single beds, the Classic 600 TDL E2 with single beds and a large bathroom across the full width of the caravan and the sales success of KABE in 600 length, with a spacious double bed lengthwise: the Classic 600 XL.
Premium caravans
Other model series in the luxury segment are the KABE Royal, which for 2021 is equipped with a four-burner gas stove with convection oven, and the more spacious Hacienda series, which is equipped with a double, so-called tandem axle. Top of the bill is the Imperial line: a series of caravans from the absolute premium segment, which for model year 2021 is equipped with Alde zone heating as standard, with the heating at the front and rear being separately adjustable.
The Imperial has also received a new exterior design, in which the characteristic KABE corporate identity color red is combined with subtle black accents, comparable to the campers of the Swedish brand.

New for model year 2021 is the new 'Nordic Oak' wood decor for all KABE caravans (except the Classic series), which is combined with light color areas and new, light wall and floor coverings that give the caravans a more spacious appearance. The caravans with a bathroom layout – the so-called TDL versions – have been redeveloped and now have a more spacious shower cabin with the same bathroom comfort as at home. In other 2021 news, caravans from the Royal and Imperial series can optionally be equipped with an energy-efficient Dometic compressor refrigerator that is accessible on both sides through the double hinges.
From bus campers to integrals
In the Swedish region of Småland, where the KABE factory is located, the bus campers that KABE introduced for the 2020 model year are also built: campers with full standing height and a patented method of insulation that makes the 'Van' suitable for all seasons. The Van is even optionally available as a 4×4.

In addition, KABE produces integral campers, semi-integrated campers and a so-called 'cross-over' (with fold-down bed) under the name Travel Master. A number of Travelmaster semi-integrated vehicles are available with a width of 250 cm, which provides extra living space. In addition, KABE also carries the Integrated on a Fiat basis: a 7,40 meter long integral camper. Since model year 2020, KABE has also been building integrated campers based on Mercedes, with an AL-KO chassis: the Crown and the even more luxurious Imperial, both of which belong in the premium segment.
New for 2021 is a semi-integrated vehicle that is also built on Mercedes Sprinter: the KABE Royal. This camper is available in two lengths, a 780 (7,75 meters length, available in five different layouts) and an 880 (8,78 meters length, two layouts). The newly developed 170 hp four-cylinder Mercedes diesel with 9-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive is used for the motor. The car is equipped with the revolutionary Mercedes MBUX multimedia system, including voice control for telephone and navigation. The Heavy Duty emissions system will be standard on all KABE campers from model year 2021.

'Crossover' with pull-down bed
The Royal semi-integrated camper is also a so-called 'crossover', with an extra double bed that is incorporated into the ceiling above the living area and lowers electrically if necessary. Both camper versions have a generous width of 2,50 meters that provides extra living pleasure - that width makes KABE unique on the camper market.
KABE uses spiral mattresses for the sleeping area, which are also equipped with extra thick mattress covers. The luggage space under the beds is accessible via the garage doors in both side walls of the camper. The bathroom of the KABE Royal semi-integrated is equipped with a swivel flush toilet, a shower cabin and a sink with upper and lower cabinet for all toiletries. The seating group consists of a comfortable corner sofa and an additional seat, which together with the swiveling cabin seats forms a cozy living lounge for five people.

The dinette can be converted into a fifth sleeping place if desired. The Royal has four seats with seat belts as standard, but a fifth seat with a seat belt can be ordered as an option. Both new Royal semi-integrated vehicles meet all KABE requirements with regard to all-season comfort, i.e. with underfloor heating into the cabin and with an additional heating package with fan under the driver and passenger seats.

Separate zone heating
KABE plays a leading role in technology and has previously been rewarded with a European Innovation Award for the SmartD control panel that controls important functionalities of the camper and for the KABE SmartVent ventilation system.
An innovation for 2021 is the zone heating that KABE has developed in collaboration with heating expert Alde and which is used not only in caravans but also in campers. This allows the liquid heating system to be controlled separately, so that different temperatures can be selected for the cabin, in the seating group or in the sleeping area – something that will be particularly appreciated by winter campers. The KABE zone heating will be standard on all campers and caravans of the Imperial series from the 2021 model year.

Crash safety
For model year 2021, extra attention has been paid to crash safety with active and passive safety systems for both the campers based on the Fiat Ducato and the Mercedes Sprinter. The active systems are intended to prevent an accident from occurring. In Mercedes, for example, you should think of the automatic braking system, ABS, rain sensor, high beam assistant, crosswind stabilization and lane assist that warns the driver if the driver changes lanes without a flashing light. These additional systems all contribute to extra safety while driving.
The passive safety systems must prevent injuries as much as possible if an accident does occur. This includes airbags, but also the stable camper body with a glued construction, externally extended supporting beams and, for example, the steel frames around the battery and water tank, which prevent them from becoming loose in the event of a collision. From model year 2021 there is also a new construction of the table where the table top can be folded away while driving. With these types of innovations, KABE is a leader when it comes to safety in campers.
