Knaus E-power: get rid of the gas bottle

Getting rid of gas is a sustainable magic word and Knaus wants to take full advantage of that. The caravan builder will therefore use the 2022 model year to put e-power firmly on the map in caravan country. No fewer than thirteen models in the Südwind and Sport series are offered fully electric.

According to Knaus, E-power is the next step in sustainable camping. In the future, all Knaus caravans will be available fully electric, i.e. without a gas installation. Another advantage, the e-power models are 50 kilos lighter than the gas version. An advantage for caravaners who use a tow vehicle that is not too large.

In the Knaus e-power models you cook on an induction plate. Gas is also no longer required for the energy-efficient compressor refrigerator and the heating and air conditioning unit with a heat pump. In practice you don't notice much of this because the E-caravans are equipped with quite intelligent electronics that prevent you from leaving the campsite in the dark with blown fuses. With the electric caravans, Knaus believes it will mainly appeal to novice campers and rental companies. Most caravan campers find the hassle of dealing with gas bottles a nuisance, says Knaus.
