Creak-free anti-sway coupling from Knott

Creak-free anti-sway coupling from Knott

A creaking stabilizer or anti-sway clutch makes quite a bit of noise when cornering. The German company Knott therefore comes up with a clutch that only clamps down at higher speeds, resulting in hardly any creaking.

The most commonly used anti-sway clutch is the mechanical one. You activate it by pressing a lever down when the caravan is attached. The coupling clamps around the ball and thus suppresses possible pendulum movements. This means you can drive faster than 20 kilometers per hour without any problems before reaching the critical swing speed.

Smart sensor

A tow bar head with sand or other contamination makes things creak. The German Knott, specialist in axles, brakes and tow bars, has come up with a solution for this. The system is equipped with a smart sensor. This not only pays attention to the speed, but also to the condition of the road surface. The clutch does not work up to 30 kilometers per hour. Even with heavy steering, the clutch will realize that intervention is not necessary. At higher speeds the clutch does what it should do again. The clutch is only released again after 10 seconds of standing still.

Less clutch wear at lower speeds and no grinding. Furthermore, an app is being developed on which you can read the status of this Electronic Coupling Control. Prices are not yet known, but the system will cost more than the current generation of anti-sway couplings.
