Mioled: The purest water everywhere

Mioled: The purest water everywhere

Water and electricity in a camper, caravan or other camping equipment are systems that make it so comfortable and even offer the possibility of going off-grid. But then of course those installations have to be in perfect order. You can't usually say that about the stagnant water in a tank that is too warm. Algae and bacteria are simply pathogens. The Mioled is a solution for that. A user-friendly device with which you can completely purify the water from your camping tap before you make coffee, wash the salad or take a shower.

The Mioled was developed by the Italian Sita, a market leader in water purification based on UV technology since 1982. With a lot of experience in industrial applications, shipping and for example keeping swimming pools clean, a revolutionary UV disinfection device was developed for home use or at the campsite.  It is a compact system that is easily placed between the tap and the water tank and offers an extremely reliable solution for removing bacteria and germs from drinking or shower water, because Mioled is also active against legionella contamination. With a fully automatic operation, a powerful UV LED lamp switches on as soon as water flows, and it switches off again as soon as the tap is turned off. The UV LED lasts 5000 hours, the power consumption on 12V is negligible at 16W as this is only used when the tap is running. Incidentally, there is also a 220V version available if that is more convenient in a home, for example.

The Mioled combines advanced water purification technology with great ease of use. After the simple installation, which does not really require a plumber, you will not have to worry about it anymore. With the help of UV-LED light, the device disinfects without the use of chemicals such as chlorine. This keeps the taste of the water as it was, nothing is added. This proven technology is efficient and very sustainable, especially when you get the little power that is consumed from a solar panel.

UV disinfection is just as efficient as it is safe to purify water. UV light with a wavelength of 254 nm destroys or inactivates harmful micro-organisms such as bacteria, viruses and protozoa, including E. coli, Salmonella and Giardia. The UV light penetrates the cell wall and disrupts the DNA of the culprits, after which they can no longer reproduce and die. The risk of diseases such as diarrhoea, cholera or typhoid is thus drastically reduced. With chemical treatments such as chlorine, a residue remains and you can taste it. It can really ruin your coffee moment. With UV disinfection, no residues or by-products are left behind. This also makes it a healthier choice, free of chemicals that can cause irritation in addition to an unpleasant taste. In addition, Mioled UV-Led disinfection does not change the composition of the water. Important minerals such as calcium, magnesium and potassium are simply retained.

The Mioled measures 21,5cm by 11cm. The thickness is 6cm. Nice and compact, so there is always a place for it. The weight is a surprising 1kg, which underlines the solidity. Connecting is super simple. In addition to the 12V connection, there is a water in and water out. The connection of the water pipes is 8mm, while 12mm piping is usually used in campers and caravans. An adapter is available for this. The Mioled is also not a filter that obstructs the flow from the tap. It is a flow-through device in which the flowing water is only held up by the applied transition from 12 to 8mm. You will not notice anything at the tap or in the shower.

The Mioled has a price of € 477.95 That seems expensive compared to a filter but it is not. When you maintain a filter system properly it costs about € 100, - per year. With the Mioled you can let the tap run for 5000 hours without hidden or recurring costs.  There is no further maintenance. You can occasionally check whether the indicator light is on when the tap is open.

You can easily order the Mioled online at Mioled Nederland or one of its sales outlets. There is a good chance that your favorite camping store also has it in stock. Direct pleasure is a carefree feeling when you turn on the tap. It also prevents an annoying illness with a vacation falling into the water. And that is really worth even more.
