NKC Campervans of the Year 2020
A public election for the best camper of the year: the NKC, Europe's largest camper club, holds this every year. Dreamer, Carado and Weinsberg won prizes in the three categories – bus camper, semi-integrated and integrated.
Every year, camper manufacturers present new models and upgrades to their existing portfolio. For several years now, the NKC has been making a pre-selection for which the whole of the Netherlands can vote. This was done no fewer than 5.000 times this year. The camper election is divided into three categories: bus camper, semi-integrated and integral. In the bus campers category, the Dreamer Living VAN won, in the semi-integrated campers category the Carado T338 became the title holder and in the integrated campers category the Weinsberg CaraCore 700 MEG took the prize. Below we introduce the winners to you.
Bus Camper of the Year
Dreamer Living FROM
Bus campers are a category that is becoming increasingly popular. In Germany it is even the biggest grower among campers. The Dreamer Living VAN is a French-made camper from the Rapido group. The Dreamer stands out because of the large U-shaped seating area in the back, a layout that you rarely see in bus campers. The manufacturer affectionately calls it a living lounge and what is special is that the Dreamer also has a dinette in the front. So two living areas, which is quite exceptional. And that makes the Dreamer Living VAN a comfortable travel trailer that is great for entertaining friends. You sleep above the dinette in the fold-down bed and you can of course make an extra bed in the living lounge at the back, which is nice if the children come along, or if you have guests.
The Dreamer is built on the basis of the Fiat Ducato with standard 140 hp, more than enough for a bus camper. The Dreamer has a length of almost 6.40 meters and the raised roof provides a headroom of 210 centimeters. Another special feature is the separate shower and toilet area – unique in bus camper land. The Dreamer also has a compact kitchen with two gas burners, a sink and a compressor refrigerator - which runs on electricity, which is why a second household battery is built-in.

Semi-integrated of the Year
Carado T338
A lot of camper for a reasonable price - that is the main reason why the Carado T338 received the most votes in the semi-integrated camper category in the NKC election. When purchasing a camper you always have to deal with additional costs, such as an awning, central door locking, cruise control, bicycle carrier, you name it. With the T338 this is all already there. The Carado is a completely new model of less than 7 meters in length. The feeling of space inside is special, which is created, among other things, by a lot of light through the panoramic window and through the 'sight lines': you can see all the way to the front and back of the camper. The camper has some beds that are placed quite high. This means that the garage underneath has extra storage space for holiday items. The single beds (190 and 200 meters long) can also easily be linked so that you can still sleep together. The camper has a smart, combined shower and toilet room and the corner kitchen is fully equipped: three gas burners, a sink and plenty of storage space for cooking utensils.
A fold-down bed (1,95 meters long) has been placed above the dinette, so you can easily go on holiday with the four of you. The equipment is in tip top condition. What else would we order? Maybe the 140 hp version instead of the standard 120 hp.

Integrated Camper of the Year
Weinsberg Caracore 700 MEG
Weinsberg – a fully owned subsidiary of Knaus – is shaking up the market with a very competitive price tag for an integrated camper. The Caracore 700 MEG has a starting price of just under 70.000 euros. Of course, there are many accessories included if you want to dress up the Caracore a bit. For example, we would prefer to see the 7,41 meter long camper supplied with a 160 hp rather than the standard 120 hp. Count on 90 grand for a Caracore with automatic transmission, cruise control, airbag for the co-driver, awning, satellite dish, heating upgrade and the like - still a decent price for an integral camper. The Caracore is the very first integrated from Weinsberg, previously they only built bus campers and semi-integrated vehicles, such as the successful Weinsberg Pepper: the Dutch best-selling semi-integrated vehicle.
In terms of layout, this 700MEG is equipped with single beds, a separate toilet and shower, a neat corner kitchen and a large refrigerator. A lot of attention has been paid to styling, as you can see from the upholstery in two colors, the furniture in a warm wood color and upper cabinets in cream. The CaraCore has a fold-down bed at the front, so that four of you can sleep in the car.
