Perspective on summer holidays: campsites open from July 1

After last night's press conference, camping enthusiasts in the Netherlands are starting to dream of a summer holiday again. The campsites can open as of July 1. Of course, provided that the coronavirus remains under control. And the well-known regulations (such as the 1,5 meter distance) can be adhered to.

If only people who had access to their own sanitary facilities were allowed to camp, everyone can camp again as of July 1. On the website of the National government it is described that all communal toilets and showers at campsites and holiday parks can then open again, provided the virus remains under control.

This is good news! Because although we may not be able to go on holiday abroad, fortunately the Netherlands has many beautiful holiday areas and beautiful campsites. And now that terraces and catering establishments in the Netherlands are allowed to open again as of June 1, there is more room for a wonderful summer holiday.

Hiswa-Recron response

However, Hiswa-Recron would have preferred this date to be earlier than July 1. They call it the relaxation of the corona measures disappointing and the date unacceptable. “In addition to Easter and the May holidays, Ascension Day and Pentecost are now also being overlooked by our entrepreneurs. We still had hope of making up for part of the season, but that now seems far away," said Geert Dijks, director of Hiswa-Recron. They will challenge this date in the near future, who knows with success, so that we can go to the campsite even earlier.
