Building a camper together? These couples came before you
Many people dream of traveling together, but preferably in the comfort of home. Despite the enormous choices of comfortable campers, most people still miss a kind of 'home atmosphere'. These couples therefore built their dream palace on wheels!
Thijs and Janine
That's how you have it couple Thijs and Janine, they decided to transform a box truck into their dream camper. “The four of us had the idea of traveling for a longer period of time, and we wanted to be very free: not having to reserve anything and being able to leave whenever you want.” According to the couple. During their trip she was inspired by the various campers and homemade vans they encountered.
They decided to purchase an old box truck and take matters into their own hands. It was quite a job for the couple considering the fact that a box truck is of course anything but a camper. Everything had to be stripped. In addition, a box truck has no windows, so they were faced with quite a challenge. It was important for Thijs and Janine to create a place where you can relax. No stark white walls, but warm colors with nice ambient lighting. And the outside? It is of course decorated with trees and mountains, for the real adventurers.

Robbie and Priscilla
Robbie and Priscilla from the Instagram account Going Boundless, have become known thanks to their special project. They have taken up the challenge to transform an old-fashioned American school bus into a house on wheels. It was a huge job, so the couple decided to share this entire process via Instagram. It was a real success and a lot of people watched how the couple turned this bus into a special camper.
They equipped the bus with a bathroom, stove, toilet and a kitchenette with even a washing machine! The best part is that they renovated and installed everything themselves. The couple had an increasing need to travel, but with the comforts of home, like many. As far as we are concerned, she has succeeded very well! If you look at the photos, it looks more like a full-fledged house.

Iona and Martin
After the box truck and the school bus, this couple opted for a truck! Iona and Martin bought a canary yellow truck for 3.600 British pounds, the equivalent of about 4000 euros. Apparently the couple had been living in a camper van for quite some time, but they were ready for something more spacious. They both love to travel, so they decided to buy a truck and renovate it themselves.
The traveling couple renovated everything in the truck themselves, which allowed them to save enormously on costs. The total renovation would have cost around £20.000, which is 22.500 euros. Quite an investment, but the end result is impressive. It was quite a challenge to make the loads look like a nice camper, but they succeeded!
