Camper too heavy? Solution to overweight campers

Camper too heavy? Solution to overweight campers

When you go on holiday with the camper, you often want to take more with you than you think. And when all the holiday stuff is in it, there is a chance that you have already exceeded the maximum allowable weight. The result: the camper is too heavy.

Have you ever had to deal with this? Then you are not alone. About 40% of all campers have this problem and are regularly too heavy. There are two types of campers who are overweight. The first is when the camper is heavier than the maximum allowable weight. The second reason that your camper is too heavy is if the individual axle loads are exceeded. This is also seen as being overweight.

Camper too heavy?

Does your camper appear to be too heavy? Then you risk a fine. It is also a risk for your insurance, because what will your insurance do if you are involved in an accident with your camper and it turns out that the camper was too heavy? You can prevent this by having your camper upgraded by WDT Services.

Upgrade vehicle weight

Upgrading means that the vehicle weights on the camper's registration certificate are increased. WDT-Services has obtained the required approval reports over the years through testing in collaboration with the TÜV / RDW and stored them in a database. These approval reports are proof that upgrading for a certain type of camper is technically possible and that it is safe. Because the weights are increased, an adjustment to the suspension system is often necessary.

RDW approved

Your vehicle data is used to search the WDT database for the corresponding approval report. The application is then submitted to the RDW. After WDT-Services receives approval from the RDW, you can register the weights at an RDW station with this RDW certificate. The upgrade is then official and your camper is no longer overweight. Result: you can take much more with you on holiday: RDW approved.

Now take a camper based on a Fiat Ducato 33 light. This may weigh 3300 kg. WDT-Services can increase this weight to 4000 kg. That means 700 kg extra weight. In addition to the weight benefits, the modified suspension also provides more comfort and safety. Please note: for campers over 3500 kg you need a C or C1 driving license.
