Wrapping a camper: Pimping in your own style

Something striking is happening in the camper industry. Almost all campers that have rolled out of the factory this century are subject to sticker mania as standard. It seems that a modern camper is not allowed to go through life naked. A scene needs to be pasted on it. 

Very occasionally a more or less successful striping to break up a large white area. But much more often, the decal artists go a bit too far and you can ask the question whether this really benefits the appearance of a camper. Fortunately, there is a solution with which we have also treated our CampersCaravans.nl promotional camper: have your camper wrapped.

What is it?

With the help of special vinyl foil you can completely transform an entire camper into a new look. The wrap film developed by 3M, among others, is extremely deformable. This makes it possible to stick this foil over the most complex shapes, so that the wrap foil completely follows the shapes of the camper. Also the mirrors, bumpers or the garage entrance door. The wrap film sticks to all painted and plastic parts. The preparation consists only of cleaning. Sanding, such as with spraying, is not necessary. Application and removal is done with hot air. Where there should be no foil, for example the headlights, it is cut away.

Benefits of wrapping your camper

Wrap film is available in every color. One color even more exclusive than the other. In addition, any image or design is no problem at all. That's perhaps the most fun part of the whole procedure. You can create your own unique look that no other camper has.

But then the biggest advantage. Suppose you purchase a new camper. You can also order this without the obligatory dolphin under a stylized palm tree. Maybe such an image would be nice for a moment. But after about ten years it gets boring. Faded by the sun, it no longer looks so fresh and, even worse, when you remove it, you still see the contours. To make it even tighter, it has to be sprayed again and that is almost twice as expensive as a wrap.

So buy that new camper without stickers and have your camper wrapped, straight from the factory. That may hurt a bit in terms of costs on top of what was paid for the camper, but it serves a higher purpose. When you are tired of your own design after 10 or 20 years, you can easily remove the wrap with some hot air. And what emerges underneath is a new, undamaged layer of paint. That makes a run-in camper more valuable, making the somewhat painful purchase of the wrap relative. Interior parts can also be wrapped with, for example, a wood look. You do not have to use the term "signs of use" when selling the camper.

Maintenance

A wrapped car can go to the car wash, although washing by hand is a bit better. If there is a matte or satin wrap on the camper, never put a layer of wax on it. The wrap will start to shine after a while and that is not the desired effect of a matte or satin gloss look. There are also special wrap maintenance products. There is a set for maintaining, cleaning and conditioning glossy and printed wraps and other sets for maintaining and cleaning matte wraps. Minor damage can be repaired without replacing the entire wrap.

Our own camper

We set a good example with our Sunlight camper, which can no longer be recognized as such. Made available by Haffkamp Holidays from Sittard. A well-oiled rental machine with more than 80 campers on the road in addition to dealerships in Knaus, Weinsberg and Morelo campers. Opposite the Haffkamp branch you will find MH Roadstyling. After removing the factory stickers, a set of wavy lines that seem to lead nowhere, the superstructure was provided with our own design.

And that worked out well. The name CampersCaravans.nl is prominently displayed above an inspiring spectacle of a camping family.
