Renting a caravan or camper? Here's how!

What joy a private camper or caravan brings! The freedom to go wherever you want. It's even more fun to share this joy. More and more private individuals are choosing to rent out their caravan or camper. This also generates extra income. But how do you arrange the rental? We give you several tips.

The purchase of a new or second-hand camper or caravan is expensive. The value pays off in years of holiday pleasure. Yet many campers and caravans spend a large part of the year in storage. Renting out your caravan or camper can generate extra income. An additional advantage is that your beloved camping vehicle is less idle, because idleness often means deterioration.

Preparation

Price and availability

Are you going to rent out your caravan or camper? Then it's good to have a few things in order. This way you can estimate whether it is profitable to choose to rent it out. Consider for how many weeks the camper or caravan can be rented out. And also research what a good rental price is (varying per season). The price you can ask depends on the age of your camper or caravan, the brand, the size and the luxury offered. To make a good estimate, you can check the rental price of comparable campers or caravans on the market.

Insurance and contract

For renting out your camper or caravan, it is important to take out good insurance. As a private individual, you have several options. There are specific insurances at Aveco, the NKC, Univé and NAG. Also draw up a good rental contract, which you can use for every tenant. In it, you already think about the rental conditions and what you do in case of damage, for example.

Drafting an advertisement

Is it profitable to rent out your caravan or camper and have you arranged everything regarding insurance? Then it's time to draft an advertisement. For that, you need the right data and clear, beautiful photos.

Photos

Many people make a choice based on what they see. So beautiful photos are important. Make sure the first photo of your advertisement shows your camper or caravan in its entirety. Preferably in a place that evokes the camping feeling. A mountainous environment during a holiday in France is of course a more beautiful background than a parking lot. In addition, provide multiple, clear photos of the exterior and interior. This way, potential tenants know what to expect.

Description and data

In an advertisement offering your camper or caravan for rent, the text is also important. First: ensure a catchy ad title. In the text, you then describe the most important features of the camper or caravan. Don't forget to add a bit of experience, why is your caravan or camper the ideal camping vehicle? Think in advance about what information people might want to know, so you can answer any questions in advance. Fill in the requested specifications as much as possible.

Being outdoors, but still having your own cozy spot.

Place an advertisement

After careful preparation, it's time to place the advertisement. Here too, you have several choices. Do you want to carry out the entire rental process yourself, or do you want to outsource it (partially)? Think of: preparing the camper or caravan for rental, handing over keys, arranging payments. And after the rental period, checking the camper and having any damage repaired.

If you want to do it completely yourself, you can easily place an advertisement on CampersCaravans.nl. In a few steps, you can put your advertisement online.

It is important to remain alert when buying or selling.

Sharing platforms

There are also organizations that take care of part of the rental process. For this, you pay them a portion of the income. Companies that can do this for you in the Netherlands are PaulCamper, Goboony and Camptoo.
