Vries Levelsystems: level camping fun

A camper or caravan that is tilted does not provide comfortable accommodation. Not much comes of sleeping, the refrigerator can have difficulty when tilted and the sink does not drain. Vries Levelsystems offers the solution.

Of course, a leaning camper on caravan is relatively easy to solve with wedges under the wheels or with the adjustable legs of a caravan. However, when you are touring around, that recurring job is not something that resembles a holiday. One push of a button and everything is straight. Vries Levelsystems from Veenendaal makes it possible.

Initiator Vries Levelsystems

Tonnie de Vries, initiator of Vries Levelsystems, is a technician with hydraulic oil in his veins. After a long and pleasant employment at E&P Hydraulics, he started as an independent dealer of this brand and, in three years, grew into the most important provider of a decent upgrade for campers and caravans. Every week a copy leaves our own workshop with a hydraulic, fully automatic level system, with or without full air suspension or a combination of both systems. If you are looking for greatly improved driving characteristics and ultimate comfort at your destination, this is the option that delivers.

Vries Levelsystems

Remote control

With four cylinders on the chassis, a camper is leveled within two minutes at the touch of a button on the remote control. Without the hassle of a jack handle or the obligatory “driving over the wedge”. A level system also has another advantage. The wobbling when someone gets out or walks around is largely a thing of the past.

The system has had quite a bit of security built in, so that a mistake does not have disastrous consequences. Driving away with a dull morning head while the legs are still out is of course not beneficial for anything. Fortunately, that is not possible. Leveling is only possible when the handbrake is applied. As soon as you release it and want to drive away, all kinds of alarms go off and the telescopes are automatically retracted.

The legs are hydraulically retracted and extended, driven by a pump, part of a compact unit with a tank for the oil and electronics. This means that leveling requires about as much of the starter battery as starting it once. However, if there is a problem with the tension, there is an emergency control on each leveling leg to retract it.

Easy to change strap

A flat tire is annoying, but with this system changing is a lot easier. In semi-automatic mode, lift the culprit free of the road surface and the spare wheel can be placed on it. For safety there should be a jack underneath. Under normal circumstances the wheels remain on the ground. The legs then adjust in pairs. This prevents incorrect loading of the chassis.

There is actually no maintenance. The legs are made of material that can easily lift 2 tons or more. It is just under the car where sand, mud or brine have free rein. Vries Levelsystems therefore applies a layer of tectyl after installation as extra protection. Cleaning it every now and then is actually the only form of love and attention you need to pay to the system.

For campers up to 40 tons

The E&P system is available for all campers up to 40 tons. At Vries, the workshop has a bridge up to 16 tons. The model/brand of camper does not matter. There is a suitable set for everything. Installing a system in and under a camper up to 3,5 tons takes approximately two days. A loaner car is available.

Broadly the same advantages apply to caravans, but a different set is applied. Two leveling feet on the axle straighten the caravan in width. Four hydraulic replacements for the standard leveling feet then level in the longitudinal direction.

Improved driving experience

Vries Levelsystems not only increases comfort at the camping spot but also improves the driving experience on the way there. Campers usually always drive at their maximum load. This has no favorable effect on road holding. Steel auxiliary springs on the standard leaf suspension can make a big difference in comfort and stability. Auxiliary air suspension adds the option to adjust the ride height. With or without a built-in compressor.

Full air suspension

A big step further is full air suspension. The existing leaf or coil suspension is replaced by bellows, shock absorbers, compressor and an electronic control unit. This updated suspension system filters all irregularities from the road surface, increasing driving comfort. In addition, there is an adjustable constant ride height regardless of the load, even if it is all on one side. Crosswinds or a passing truck no longer have much effect with air suspension, which not only improves comfort but also improves safety. This is further increased by a shorter braking distance.

At the touch of a button, “AutoLevel” of the VB-FullAir 4C air suspension ensures that the camper is level. Imperfections up to 130mm can be removed in this way. The E&P Hydraulics level system goes a lot further and also positions the camper firmly. A combination of both was created for each other. E&P is compatible with the air suspension, which means they work well together. The air suspension selects the lowest possible position, after which the level system levels the camper. Fully automatic, with a touchscreen remote control that is included as a display in the dashboard, but can be removed so that it can also be operated remotely.

Valuable upgrade

Vries Levelsystems offers a valuable upgrade for campers or caravans. In a well-organized workshop, the systems are installed flawlessly and adjusted with the necessary expertise. A lot of experience also ensures good advice. Tonnie de Vries is happy to show how the systems work and which one fits best. The upcoming Camper Expo in Houten is a good opportunity for this. A working test setup provides insight into what happens when you press that one button. Hall 3, stand 335.
