Adria Twin Supreme: Camper van with convertible feeling
Adria has made a name for itself with its camper vans: the Twin, with its sporty appearance, is indispensable in this segment. For model year 2019, the Slovenian camper builder introduces an extra novelty that has a huge impact on the sense of space in these popular vehicles: the Adria Twin.
The Adria Twin camper van is available in three versions: the entry-level model is the Axess, built on a Citroën Jumper and available in three lengths: 540, 600 and 640 cm. This is followed by the more luxurious Plus and the top model Supreme – both with the familiar Fiat Ducato as the base vehicle. The Plus starts at 540, followed by a 600 and a 640 version. And for the most luxurious Supreme version, you can choose from two layouts at 640 cm length, or a more compact variant with a transverse bed in the 600.

Adria Twin at De Roo Campers
For this test, we are looking at the Adria Twin Supreme 640 SGX at De Roo Campers in Stadskanaal: a richly appointed version of the already well-equipped Supreme: 18-inch wheels, automatic transmission, leather upholstery, rear air suspension and equipped with the Adria Prestige package, including cruise control, electrically heated, adjustable and foldable mirrors, but also a screen door at the sliding door.
Exterior
What immediately stands out about this Adria Twin is the large, standard panoramic window directly behind the front windshield of the Fiat Ducato, in the roof. With a Heki roof hatch behind it. This means a large part of the camper roof consists of windows: it provides an incredible amount of light and thus also a huge sense of space.

To be able to place the panoramic window, Adria has not only omitted the B-pillar of the camper, but also the usual luggage compartment that is placed above the cabin against the ceiling in 99 percent of camper vans. And this also makes it much easier to move from the living area to the driver's and passenger's seats. And on the road, due to the enormous amount of light, it feels like you are driving in a convertible. The Supreme is available in six exterior colors, optionally you can choose an automatic transmission and in terms of engine, the Supreme starts at 130 hp, going through the 150 hp version to end with a power of no less than 180 hp. The test vehicle has the 130 hp version, more than enough for a camper van.
Living, eating, sleeping
The sense of space is truly enormous due to the panoramic skylight, and from the inside, the SGX looks like a semi-integrated motorhome – only the sliding door reveals that you are in a camper van. The headroom in the front of the camper has been greatly improved because the luggage compartment in the ceiling is absent. The absence of that space is compensated by the fact that the overhead cabinets extend all the way to the front of the camper. When you turn the front seats, a cozy seating area for four people is created. The two-person bench is also equipped with seat belts; so you can travel with four people.

A little further back, we see a compact kitchen with a compressor refrigerator, two-burner gas stove, and sink, with ample storage space in the wide drawers under the countertop. A fold-out shelf next to the kitchen provides extra workspace while cooking. The clever wet cell accommodates a toilet with a small sink against a swivel wall, behind which the shower is hidden. Unique to this SGX layout is the electrically adjustable double bed in which you can sleep either lengthwise or crosswise, as desired. In the highest position, you can easily place two bicycles or a scooter under the bed.
Installations
The Twin Supreme SGX features a Webasto diesel heater and a Whale gas boiler. Water pipes and wiring are neatly concealed. The cassette toilet and gas bottles are easily accessible.

Conclusion test Adria Supreme 640 SGX
With the 2019 version of the Supreme, Adria takes a clear step forward. The absence of the B-pillar and the ceiling compartment for small holiday items creates a spacious camper that approaches the feeling of a semi-integrated motorhome. Living area and cabin seamlessly merge. The newly designed interior is modern and comfortable, and the multifunctional bathroom shower room deserves praise. The test vehicle is at Adria dealer De Roo Campers in Stadskanaal, the only Adria camper dealer in the northern provinces, and can be admired during the Caravana 2019 in Leeuwarden (De Roo Campers can be found at stand 3120).
