Chausson 630 Etape Line: A richly equipped space wonder

Chausson 630 Etape Line: A richly equipped space wonder

If you are looking for more living space, the Chausson 630 Etape is a model that offers just that. The 2025 model has an incredibly spacious interior at a length of 6.99 m. Living room, kitchen, bathroom, garage, a substantial wardrobe and some drop-down beds make this generation of compact semi-integrated campers leaders in space and comfort. In the Etape series, the new 630 further stands out due to the multitude of standard extras that are not reflected in its pleasant price.

Ford base

The new Chausson Etape 630 is based on a Ford Transit. The 2.2L Tdci engine delivers 165HP for quick overtaking maneuvers. Partly thanks to a smoothly shifting 8-speed automatic transmission. A wide-track camper chassis ensures optimal road holding. Almost all safety-enhancing assistance systems complete the driving pleasure. The multimedia system also contributes to this. Standard a tablet for operating the reversing camera, DAB radio or other apps that you can mirror from your smartphone with Apple Carplay, Android Auto or Mirrorlink.

The new Etape has hail-resistant polyester plating all around, so bad weather reports won't cause damage easily. The grey side walls and dark tinted windows make it a chic appearance. The camper is locked with a central remote control that also locks access to the superstructure. In addition to the service hatches, there are two access doors to the garage where a table and chairs can be stored rattle-free. All around, the new 630 is equipped with quite a few goodies to make your stay at a campsite or camper pitch as pleasant as possible. For example, there is a connection for an outdoor shower or a gas connection for a grill or barbecue.

The layout

The interior of the Chausson 630 Etape is an attractive combination of space, comfort and efficiency. Two longitudinal benches with a table in between form the smart lounge. A good name because with the two pilot seats turned in, a U-shaped seating area is created without the slightly too cramped feeling of the dinette in many other layouts. The benches can be converted in an instant into two belted seats with Isofix. As soon as it's time to sleep, the seating area can be transformed into a double sleeping place with a filler piece and some extra cushions. In addition, the Chausson has two single drop-down beds that can be set at half-height if you need four sleeping places. If you are with two people, the beds can be lowered to the bench. A step is then not necessary. Both the beds and the table are electrically operated, making it effortless to get the sleeping accommodation ready.

The Kitchen

The central kitchen has a 2-burner gas stove, providing space for two large pans while still leaving work space. Next to the sink, there is an extendable section for extra storage. The full-size refrigerator with a separate freezer compartment completes the culinary experience.

The bathroom

The sanitary facilities are the pearl in the layout of the new Chausson. These are placed at the rear of the superstructure over the entire width. This creates a washbasin and toilet with a separate shower in dimensions and freedom of movement that a traditional layout cannot match. The bathroom can be closed with a roller door. However, the surprises in the bathroom do not end there. A sliding door provides access to the spacious garage. So there is no need to walk outside to get something. Above the access door is an enormous wardrobe. With shelves, six large drawers and a hanging section, it offers the utility and experience of a true walk-in closet.

On the road

If you enjoy driving a camper, you'll have plenty of fun in this Ford. Compared to a Ducato, you sit a bit lower. Also, on paper, the cabin is a fraction narrower, but you don't notice that much. With 165HP, the engine picks up quickly, and the 8 gears of the automatic transmission complete the party. Freezing cold is no problem for the winter-hardy Chausson, with heated tanks, insulation blankets for the cabin, and Truma heating.

The Dealer

Fobbe Campers is the dealer who enabled us to put the 630 Etape through its paces. Started in 2003 with the sale of campers, particularly in the favorably priced segment, Fobbe has grown to a sales volume of about 250 campers per year. On a site of approximately 8000m2, which is of course always too small, there is a permanent stock of around 50 units, both used and brand new. The focus on the more luxurious and recent offerings has earned Fobbe a dealership in Chausson Campers, making the sale of new campers the most important part of the complete package of services that Fobbe Campers has to offer.

Fobbe delivers the new Chausson Titanium 630 Etape from stock for those who want to drive quickly. Most other 2025 Chausson models are also ready and waiting for a new owner.
