Beachy Van camper van: Beach feeling according to Hobby

At the Caravan Salon 2021, the Beachy caravan series was introduced. Different and so unique that Hobby decided to make it a separate brand. Already during the press conference where the Beachy caravans were presented, there was a prospect of an expansion of the program. Meanwhile, there is clarity in the form of a Beachy camper van.

The Beachy caravans come in three different layouts, all of which immediately appealed to an enthusiastic audience. This was partly due to the exhibition stand, which consisted of a lot of sand and managed to evoke a real beach feeling. For example, the series features a simple interior with the right atmosphere and a remarkably large tailgate. Prices start around €12,000. However, Hobby, or rather Beachy, is not standing still and is now also presenting the Beachy Van camper van. It has a similarly minimalist yet atmospheric interior and will also go into production, as the public once again reacted just as positively to this newcomer among camper vans.

Positive reactions

“The reactions at the Caravan Salon were almost without exception positive. The interest and questions from both dealers and the public far exceeded expectations,” says Frank Maukel, Hobby’s marketing CEO. This was even at a time when there was hardly anything to see of the Beachy Van’s interior. The windows and blinds were still closed for this presentation.

Citroen Jumper base

The basis of the Beachy Van 540 is the 5.4-meter-long Citroën Jumper. In the back, immediately after the swing-open rear doors, is the face-to-face seating area. With the table lowered, you have a double bed. Two other sleeping places can be found in the pop-top roof. So, four people can sleep in it. The number of belted seats accommodates five people.

No bathroom

Like the Beachy caravans, the Beachy camper van has no bathroom. There is running water in the kitchen from a 19-liter jerrycan. So, for example, for brushing teeth, there is sufficient sanitary facility. The toilet is provided by the well-known Porta-Potti. Furthermore, the Beachy camper van has everything that other camper vans also offer. Think of a compressor refrigerator with a capacity of 70 liters or a diesel heater. The seats in the living area can be continuously adjusted on the rails. You can also leave them at home when you go out as a couple.

Light and airy

The interior bears a strong resemblance to the Beachy caravans. Spacious, fresh, and in a light color scheme. Including an unmistakable beach feeling. This is provided, for example, by the string of lights or the pinboards on the walls. All extremely nice and pleasant. But there is also a caveat. If you are interested, your patience will be tested. Because this Hobby Beachy camper van will only be in dealers' showrooms in a year or more. According to insiders, the starting price in Germany is approximately €40,000. Whether longer versions will also be available is still an unanswered question. A longer version could offer enough space for a real bathroom. Despite the spaciousness that does not include a bathroom, not everyone wants to miss this comfort.
