Dethleffs Pulse GT: summery design camper

The Pulse is a completely new series from the German manufacturer Dethleffs. What is special about this luxurious mid-range model is its modern, summery interior and its unique design. We tested the Dethleffs Pulse GT T 7051 DBM for you.

During the development of the Dethleffs Pulse GT, the interior of the camper was central. And you can tell by the beautifully coordinated furniture upholstery, the chosen wood types, and the furniture design. The Pulse is available as an integrated and as a semi-integrated camper, both in six different layouts. For this test, we are looking at the semi-integrated camper with a queen-size bed.

Flowing lines

Flowing lines – that's what distinguishes the Dethleffs Pulse GT from its counterparts. The curved rear wall, the elegant superstructure above the cabin, and the black accents give the camper a modern look. The Pulse is built on a Fiat Ducato with a standard 130 hp diesel engine – the test model we are looking at at Rico Recreatie has the 150 hp version on board; it keeps up perfectly with other traffic.

Silky smooth shifting

The camper is standard equipped with safety systems such as ABS, ESP, and ASR. The Hill Holder also ensures that you can easily drive off on slopes. An extra on the test vehicle is the optional, silky smooth automatic gearbox. For the superstructure, Dethleffs has opted for the wood-free LifeTime-Smart construction technology, and both the roof and the floor are provided with polyester plating: excellent protection against both hail and splashing stones against the bottom plate.

At the rear of the camper, the doors of the large garage can be operated with one hand. Inside the garage, we see a mechanism with which you can raise or lower the queen-size bed. In the highest position, bicycles can also be taken in the garage.

Modern, summery atmosphere

At the entrance, an electrically retractable step provides easy access through the seventy-centimeter wide entrance door. Inside, we see a threshold-free floor from cabin to kitchen, so no steps. Striking in this camper is the modern, summery atmosphere in the interior. Natural colors have been chosen, and a lot of sunlight enters. Unique is the design of the usually massive overhead cabinets: Dethleffs does it differently and opts for sloping overhead cabinets with cabinet flaps hinged in two parts in the Pulse. This gives a spacious effect, and holiday items are easily accessible.

With the two rotated cabin seats, a cozy living area for four adults is created, with a pull-down bed for two people above it. Behind the seating area, the kitchen is placed, with a raised bar element as a seating area divider – handy for extra storage space.

Cooking and sleeping

The kitchen is equipped with a three-burner gas stove and – on the other side of the camper – a large Dometic fridge/freezer. Under the worktop, you can store plenty of cooking utensils in the spacious base cabinet and the three drawers. Behind the kitchen, we come to the step towards the sleeping area, with the shower and toilet on either side. With the toilet door, you can close off the living area, creating a spacious bathroom.

In the sleeping area, a freestanding queen-size bed (160x190cm) is placed, allowing you to get in and out on both sides. On both sides, there are handy storage compartments with USB connections, we see hanging cabinets next to both headboards, and in the raised left bed entrance, there is a deep luggage hatch.

The 'pièce de résistance' is the lighting, for which a special lighting architect was engaged during the design phase. Special lighting effects at the floor make the furniture seem to float, and we see the same light lines under the kitchen worktop and above the overhead cabinets. In the ceiling, a light ornament is also incorporated that extends to the bedroom – everything can be switched on separately, and you can easily and quickly create your own favorite atmosphere.

Installations Dethleffs Pulse GT

Cables and pipes are neatly installed in the Pulse. The Truma heating with a combined boiler is mounted in the dinette bench, together with the frost protection. Under the camper, behind the rear axle, is the fresh water tank, and the waste water tank is just in front of it. 230-Volt connections are plentiful: by the bed, the kitchen, in the toilet, and by the seating area. Next to the bed, two USB connections are placed, and two more by the seating area. Next to the entrance door, we find a 12 Volt connection.

Camper test conclusion

This Dethleffs Pulse GT is a nice addition to the Dethleffs program with a lot of attention to design. The semi-integrated is neatly built and well equipped. The extras with which Dethleffs dealer Rico Recreatie has equipped the Pulse complete the camper: the powerful 150 hp diesel engine, the automatic gearbox, and the Gran Turismo (GT) package (including automatic cabin air conditioning, alloy wheels, and central door locking).
