Camper holiday to Norway
Norway, paradise on earth
A dream holiday. Many will have Norway high on their wish list. We understand why; the nature, the unprecedented freedom, the hospitable Norwegians. Especially among camping enthusiasts, Norway has an excellent reputation and is even considered perhaps the best holiday country in Europe. To start with the 'allemansrecht' (right to roam) that offers you unprecedented freedom to find a beautiful spot to camp, a dream for individualists and nature lovers. And for a little more comfort, you can visit one of the approximately 1000 campsites the country has to offer. Moreover, driving in Norway is still a real pleasure; the roads are easily accessible, generally quiet and located in beautiful surroundings. The country seems to be made for exploring with your own car, camper or caravan! The comfortable crossings of Fjord Line make it possible to bring your trusted vehicle.
Touring with a camper van
Norway is an excellent camper country. And that shows, because even Norwegians who often have their house by the water and/or in the mountains, are increasingly going out with a camper van. Each province has its own special features. And what is ideal with a camper holiday: where you like it, you stay the longest. And there are plenty of beautiful places throughout Norway. Those who visit Norway with Fjord Line already have three options to choose from: the exciting southwest coast near Stavanger and Bergen, the south coast near Kristiansand or the southeast coast near Oslo. Three different options, immediately with very different landscapes.
Nice starting points

Even for those who don't want to travel too many kilometers, nice round trips can be devised. For example, near Stavanger you can explore the beautiful southwest corner. Starting at the flat Jæren, you can slowly drive to the mountainous region. But Stavanger itself is already a fascinating part of the journey. But with a camper van, you naturally want to explore further. The national tourist route Ryfylke, a 260-kilometer route, is a beautiful route to explore the area. Starting at the Lysefjord, you drive from water level into the mountains. And if you arrive with Fjord Line one stop further at the final destination Bergen, you drive almost directly into the fjord area. Bergen is after all the gateway to the fjords. With a camper van, you drive right along all the fjord arms and you might even have the peace to take a walk now and then. Because Norway is the country to relax in addition to your journey of discovery. Those two things go well together with a camper van, because you don't have to worry about where to stay overnight: you have it with you after all.
Kristiansand and Langesund
For those arriving in Kristiansand with the super-fast Fjord Line catamaran Fjord Cat, you are immediately on the south coast, also known as the Norwegian Riviera. In the summer season, this is also the fastest connection between the European mainland and Scandinavia.
For those who choose to arrive in Langesund, a cozy little coastal town on the south coast, the choice is also not difficult: the entire southeast coast is full of nice little towns. It's nice to park the camper on the outskirts of these towns and soak up the atmosphere by walking around. They resemble each other, but also have their own character. For those who want a bit more speed, there is the highway to Oslo. Definitely also nice to include in the round trip.
All three of these starting points are an excellent base for further travel into Norway. Those with plenty of time will naturally head further north to experience the midnight sun, cross the Arctic Circle, or perhaps visit the North Cape. For many campervan drivers, this is the ultimate destination. But for those who want to explore Norway between high mountains and fjords, there is also much to see and do for a few weeks. Waterfalls, wild rivers, beautiful lakes, and fjords constantly alternate. All of Norway is full of adventures and challenges.
