Camper holiday to Norway

Norway, paradise on earth

A dream holiday. Many will have Norway high on their wish list. We understand why; the nature, the unprecedented freedom, the hospitable Norwegians. Norway has an excellent reputation, especially among camping enthusiasts, and is even considered perhaps the best holiday destination in Europe. Starting with the right of access, which offers you unprecedented freedom to choose a beautiful place to camp, a dream for individualists and nature lovers. And for a little more comfort, you can visit the approximately 1000 campsites in the country. Moreover, driving in Norway is really a pleasure; the roads are easily accessible, generally quiet and located in beautiful surroundings. The country seems to be made for exploring with your own car, camper or caravan! Fjord Line's comfortable crossings make it possible to take your trusted means of transport with you.

Traveling around with the camper

Norway is a camper country par excellence. And that turns out to be the case, because even the Norwegians often have their houses on the water and or in the mountains, more and more people are going out with their camper. Each province has its own peculiarities. And what is of course ideal with a camper holiday: where you like it you will stay the longest. And beautiful places abound throughout Norway. Those who visit Norway with the Fjord Line immediately have three options to choose from: the exciting southwest coast near Stavanger and Bergen, the south coast near Kristiansand or the southeast coast near Oslo. Three different options, with very different landscapes.

Nice starting points

Even for those who do not want to travel too many kilometers, there are fun tours available. This way you can explore the southwest corner of Stavanger. Starting at the flat Jæren you can slowly drive towards the mountain country. But Stavanger itself is a fascinating part of the journey in itself. But with the camper in your possession you naturally want to explore further. The national tourist route Ryfylke, a 260 kilometer long route, is a beautiful route to explore the area. Starting at the Lysefjord you drive from water level straight into the mountains. And if you arrive one stop further at the Bergen terminus with Fjord Line, you enter the fjord area almost immediately. After all, Bergen is the gateway to the fjords. With the camper you drive close to all the fjord arms and you may still have the peace and quiet to take an occasional walk. Because Norway is the country to relax in addition to your journey of discovery. These two things go well with the camper, because you don't have to worry about where you will spend the night: after all, you have it with you.

Kristiansand and Langesund

For those who arrive in Kristiansand with the super-fast Fjord Line catamaran, Fjord Cat is immediately on the south coast, also known as the Norwegian Riviera. In the summer season this is also the fastest connection between mainland Europe and Scandinavia.

For those who choose to arrive in Langesund, a cozy little coastal town on the south coast, the choice is not difficult: the entire southeast coast is full of nice little towns. Nice to park the camper on the edge of these towns and enjoy the atmosphere while walking. They look alike, but also have their own character. For those who want a little more speed, there is the highway to Oslo. Definitely fun to take with you on your tour.

All these three starting points are an excellent basis for exploring further into Norway. Those who have plenty of time will of course be more likely to travel to the far north to experience the midnight sun, cross the Arctic Circle or perhaps visit the North Cape. For many camper drivers this is the ultimate goal. But for those who want to explore Norway between high mountains and fjords, there is also a lot to see and do for a few weeks. Waterfalls, raging rivers, beautiful lakes and fjords alternate constantly. All of Norway is full of adventures and challenges.
